Advance bookings for Suriya’s Scene have reached ₹4.33 crore ahead of its November 6 release, according to Sacnilk data reported by Cinema Express. That early number matters because the film is entering a crowded weekend, and the demand is not spread the way a typical Tamil star vehicle would be.
- Tamil Nadu: ₹2.04 crore
- Kerala: ₹1.55 crore
- Karnataka: ₹36.89 lakh
- Kerala screens: 550+
The Kerala factor
Kerala is doing unusual work for a Suriya release. The state alone accounts for more than a third of the advance total reported so far. Cinema Express notes that the film will open in more than 550 theatres in Kerala, making it one of Suriya’s biggest releases in the state.
The regional demand has a clear explanation. Director Jithu Madhavan arrives with the Malayalam hits Romancham and Aavesham behind him. Actors Nazriya Nazim and Naslen add further pull for viewers in Kerala. That combination gives distributors a reason to treat Kerala as a first-rank market rather than an afterthought.
What the split tells a media planner
For entertainment marketers, an advance booking number is a demand map, not a final verdict. The state-level split tells you where marketing has already worked and where more budget may be needed. In this case, the Kerala figure suggests pre-release awareness in the state is high, partly because of the creative team’s Malayalam credentials.
Distribution is also shaped around that logic. Sree Gokulam Movies is handling Kerala, while Sakthi Film Factory holds Tamil Nadu rights. The local distributor choice in Kerala matters when opening-weekend hold depends on show count and audience conversion.
There is a practical takeaway here for anyone mapping release campaigns. If an advance number is unexpectedly concentrated in one state, look for the cast or director equity that explains it, then ask whether that equity will survive a mixed word-of-mouth environment. A number built on fandom can spike early and fade; a number built on director trust can hold if the film delivers.
The weekend stress test
Scene is not getting a clean runway. It opens alongside Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. In Kerala, Ullas Chemban’s Disco also arrives on November 6. That puts screens under pressure and makes second-weekend retention the number to watch after the first day’s advance bookings convert.
For the team, Scene is also an important Tamil entry. It is Jithu Madhavan’s debut in Tamil cinema and reunites him with composer Sushin Shyam, who makes his Tamil debut with the project. The cast includes Lal, Anandraj and Raj Priyan.
The pre-release number is solid, but in a weekend with multiple competing titles, the real business will be decided by whether Kerala’s early enthusiasm turns into sustained footfall beyond the opening shows.
