Mandaadi worldwide gross touches Rs 127.38 cr after Day 21

Soori-starrer Mandaadi added Rs 1.15 crore net in India on Day 21, a 17.9% decline from the Rs 1.40 crore it collected a day earlier. The Wednesday figure came from 1,217 shows and pushed the film’s cumulative worldwide gross to Rs 127.38 crore, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.

The headline milestone looks strong. The operational story is in the weekday curve: a robust third weekend, a sharp Monday correction and a small midweek slide. For distribution and marketing teams, that is the number set that decides screen count and promotion spend.

Mandaadi’s hold after the third weekend

The film’s India net total now stands at Rs 94.20 crore, with India gross at Rs 109.88 crore and overseas gross at Rs 17.50 crore. Week 1 contributed Rs 57.30 crore and Week 2 added Rs 26.00 crore, leaving the third week with roughly Rs 10.90 crore so far.

  • Day 18 (Sunday): Rs 3.20 crore, 1,611 shows, 45.4% occupancy
  • Day 19 (Monday): Rs 1.45 crore, 1,503 shows, 24.6% occupancy
  • Day 20 (Tuesday): Rs 1.40 crore, 1,523 shows, 23.0% occupancy
  • Day 21 (Wednesday): Rs 1.15 crore, 1,217 shows, 23.0% occupancy

The show count also moved down from 1,523 on Tuesday to 1,217 on Wednesday, a sign the run is shifting from a wide release to a more selective hold. A Sunday-to-Monday fall of about 55% is not unusual after a big weekend; the useful detail is that weekday occupancy then held near 23-25%. The Tamil 2D version recorded 25.92% overall occupancy on Day 21, with night shows leading at 30.46%. The audience is increasingly concentrated in the last show of the day.

Dorothy shows a tighter theatrical scale

Keerthy Suresh-starrer Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, collected Rs 83 lakh net in India on Day 6. That was a 2.4% dip from Rs 85 lakh on Day 5 and came from 845 shows. The film’s India net total has reached Rs 6.08 crore, with India gross at Rs 7.10 crore.

Dorothy opened at Rs 90 lakh, rose to Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.40 crore on Sunday, then settled at Rs 85 lakh on both Monday and Tuesday. Day 6 occupancy was 31% overall; night shows recorded 37.31%. The six-day curve is smaller and flatter, but the night-skew matches Mandaadi.

What the day-part data means for planners

The two titles are chasing different audience pools. Mandaadi is playing as a broad Tamil theatrical release; Dorothy is working a much smaller footprint. For media planners, a single nationwide total is the wrong dashboard. Watch week-over-week holds, the Sunday-to-Monday correction and showtime occupancy. Night shows lead for both films, so if screens or promotional inventory are scarce, the late slot is where demand remains. A film that has banked Rs 127.38 crore worldwide may continue to add smaller amounts unless it regains weekend momentum.

All figures are approximate and industry-derived; they may be revised once studio updates land.
