AK 47: Rs 37.40 cr in 5 days, half of AVPL's early run

Venkatesh Daggubati’s Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 (AK 47) is showing how quickly a strong opening weekend can fade. After three days of growth, the Telugu family drama has slipped into a weak weekday pattern, leaving it far behind the early trajectory of director Trivikram Srinivas’s previous film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.

Day 5: a sharp weekday decline

On Tuesday, the film collected Rs 2.60 crore India net across 2,962 shows, down 23.5% from Monday’s Rs 3.40 crore. Monday itself had already dropped 69.8% from Sunday’s Rs 11.25 crore. The five-day India net total is Rs 37.40 crore, with domestic gross at Rs 43.85 crore.

Overseas added Rs 50 lakh on Tuesday, taking overseas gross to Rs 15.10 crore. That puts worldwide gross at Rs 58.95 crore. Ticket sales are following the same curve: 216,775 admissions on Day 5 and 2,596,678 total so far.

The day-wise picture

  • Friday, October 30: Rs 9.75 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 10.40 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 11.25 crore
  • Monday: Rs 3.40 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 2.60 crore

The AVPL benchmark

For context, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo collected Rs 16.50 crore India net on its fifth day alone, and Rs 100.70 crore India net across the first five days. Its worldwide gross by that point was about Rs 139.90 crore. AK 47‘s worldwide gross is currently below half of that number.

Occupancy explains the gap

The Telugu 2D version of AK 47 recorded 16.75% occupancy on Tuesday. Morning shows were 12.15%, afternoon 17.54%, evening 16.92%, and night shows a slightly better 20.38%. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo had 94.08% Telugu occupancy on its fifth day, which quantifies the difference in audience pull.

For media planners and distribution teams, the metric to watch now is the second-weekend hold. A family drama can still recover if occupancy rebounds on Saturday and Sunday; without that jump, the gap to the earlier Trivikram film will only widen.
