AK 47 hits Rs 55.65 cr after 69.8% Monday fall

Venkatesh Daggubati’s Telugu action comedy-drama Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 (AK 47) ran into a hard first-Monday correction after three days of growth. The film collected Rs 3.40 crore net in India on Monday, 2 November, down 69.8% from Sunday’s Rs 11.25 crore, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Times of India.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas and scored by Thaman, the film follows a family at House No. 47 whose buried secrets begin to surface. That template carried the weekend, but the Monday number tells a different business story.

The weekend-to-weekday break

The opening weekend looked steady: Rs 9.75 crore on Friday, Rs 10.40 crore on Saturday and Rs 11.25 crore on Sunday. Monday’s drop changed the trend.

  • Friday: Rs 9.75 crore net
  • Saturday: Rs 10.40 crore net (+6.7%)
  • Sunday: Rs 11.25 crore net (+8.2%)
  • Monday: Rs 3.40 crore net (-69.8%)

After four days, the domestic net total stands at Rs 34.80 crore, with India gross at Rs 40.80 crore. A Rs 75 lakh overseas day took the overseas total to Rs 14.85 crore and worldwide gross to Rs 55.65 crore. The film played 2,981 shows on Monday, averaging Rs 11,406 per show.

The Sankranthiki gap

The comparison with Venkatesh’s earlier Sankranthiki Vasthunam is unflattering. At the same four-day mark, that film had Rs 76.50 crore India net and Rs 105.27 crore worldwide. AK 47 is behind by Rs 49.62 crore worldwide.

There are structural caveats. Sankranthiki’s fourth day was a Friday in January 2025, while AK 47’s fourth day was a Monday in November 2026. Sankranthiki also played 3,284 shows that day against AK 47’s 2,981, and its occupancy was roughly 68% versus 20.29% for AK 47.

What the occupancy and state split show

Telugu occupancy on Monday slipped to 20.29%, from 44.1% on Friday, 48.1% on Saturday and 52.1% on Sunday. Night shows were the strongest slot at 24.69%, while morning shows managed only 13.77%. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed Rs 3.50 crore of the day’s Rs 3.95 crore gross, with Karnataka at Rs 35 lakh and Tamil Nadu at Rs 6 lakh.

What to watch next

For media planners and distributors, the first Monday is a better test of staying power than the opening weekend. A rising weekend followed by a steep Monday fall usually means demand is front-loaded among core fans, not yet widening to casual audiences.

One day is not a verdict. The clearer signal arrives on the second Friday: if AK 47 can hold a smaller weekday base and then recover, it may still carve out a respectable run. If not, screens will move quickly to the next release.
