Telugu action film Irumudi is showing a steady end-of-fourth-week hold. On Day 28, the Ravi Teja-starrer added Rs 95 lakh in India net collections, the same figure reported on Day 27, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India. The day’s total came from 1,327 shows.
The OTT overlap test
The steady day-on-day number matters because the film is now available on streaming. A common pattern is for daily theatrical collections to fall after an OTT window opens, since a section of the audience can watch at home. That did not happen here on Day 28. The hold is narrow, but for distributors and exhibitors it signals that the remaining theatrical audience is not immediately migrating.
- Day 28 India net: Rs 95 lakh — unchanged from Day 27
- Shows on Day 28: 1,327
- Implied per-show average: roughly Rs 7,160
- Telugu 2D occupancy: 15.68% overall
Where the total stands
The Day 28 addition pushes Irumudi to Rs 186.10 crore in India net collections and Rs 216.20 crore in India gross. Overseas gross is Rs 22.45 crore, taking worldwide gross to Rs 238.65 crore.
Weekly data shows the expected deceleration. Week 1 delivered Rs 92.15 crore; Week 2 added Rs 57.60 crore; Week 3 contributed Rs 24.70 crore; and Week 4 brought in Rs 11.65 crore. The weekly averages underline the shift: about Rs 13.16 crore per day in Week 1, Rs 8.23 crore in Week 2, Rs 3.53 crore in Week 3, and Rs 1.66 crore in Week 4. Day 28’s Rs 95 lakh is a small but stable addition to that tail.
Occupancy explains the late-run shape
The Telugu 2D version recorded 15.68% overall occupancy on Day 28. Evening shows were the strongest at 17.27%, while morning and afternoon shows stayed under 12%, and night shows were 12.55%. It is now an evening-led pattern rather than a broad all-day demand.
Context from the same tracker
The same tracking window includes Yash’s Toxic, whose Telugu version is now a negligible theatrical contributor. Its Telugu net total is Rs 25.47 crore, with just Rs 2 lakh reported on each of September 7, 8 and 9. For scale, Toxic has an India net of Rs 249.63 crore and a worldwide gross of Rs 341.67 crore, but the Telugu version’s run has slowed sharply.
Why this matters
For media planners and distribution teams, a Day 28 hold after OTT availability is a useful signal about the theatrical long tail. It suggests the late-run audience is not easily diverted by streaming access, or that the film’s OTT launch has not cannibalised the remaining theatrical demand in Telugu states. Revenue per show is now low, so this is not a growth story; it is a visibility story for the final weeks of a theatrical window. Marketing teams can watch the evening-show concentration as the most efficient place to focus any last-mile promotion.
