Mandaadi Day 8: Rs 79.93 Cr Worldwide; Sardar 2 Slows

Day 8 estimates for Soori’s Mandaadi and Karthi’s Sardar 2 show a shared weekday slowdown with very different commercial scale. Mandaadi added Rs 3.25 crore India net from 3,524 shows, a 7.1% decline from Rs 3.50 crore on Day 7. The film’s total now stands at Rs 57.30 crore India net, Rs 67.03 crore India gross and Rs 79.93 crore worldwide gross, according to Sacnilk estimates cited by The Times of India.

Mandaadi’s day-wise run

After opening at Rs 4.85 crore on September 10, the film climbed to a Day 4 peak and then eased through the week.

  • Day 1: Rs 4.85 cr
  • Day 2: Rs 6.70 cr
  • Day 3: Rs 10.00 cr
  • Day 4: Rs 13.05 cr
  • Day 5: Rs 11.25 cr
  • Day 6: Rs 4.70 cr
  • Day 7: Rs 3.50 cr
  • Day 8: Rs 3.25 cr

Where Day 8 money came from

Mandaadi grossed Rs 3.80 crore across India on Day 8. Tamil Nadu remained the anchor with Rs 2.65 crore; Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added Rs 80 lakh; Karnataka added Rs 20 lakh; Kerala added Rs 12 lakh; and the rest of India contributed Rs 3 lakh. The Tamil version generated Rs 2.55 crore net at 23.0% occupancy, while the Telugu version added Rs 70 lakh at 21.0% occupancy.

The occupancy curve shows where the demand sits. Tamil 2D occupancy moved from 18.23% in morning shows to 32.08% in night shows. Telugu 2D was weaker throughout, peaking at 18.27% in night shows.

Sardar 2’s slower hold

Sardar 2 collected Rs 66 lakh India net on Day 8 from 1,911 shows, a 5.7% decline from Rs 70 lakh on Day 7. Its total is now Rs 15.21 crore India net, Rs 17.79 crore India gross, Rs 4.75 crore overseas gross and Rs 22.54 crore worldwide. Show count fell from 2,277 on Day 7, but occupancy held flat at 14.0%.

The language split was tight at the lower base: Tamil contributed Rs 41 lakh from 1,212 shows, and Telugu contributed Rs 25 lakh from 699 shows. Tamil 2D occupancy peaked at 14.33% in night shows.

What to watch next

The percentage declines are modest for both films, but the absolute gap is the real story. Mandaadi is still adding roughly five times the daily net of Sardar 2 and has more screens to convert into second-weekend demand. For media planners and exhibitors, the practical read is to protect evening and night inventory for Mandaadi. For Sardar 2, flat occupancy on fewer shows is a screen-retention question rather than a breakout signal.

The next checkpoint is the second Friday. If Mandaadi converts its night-show strength into a weekend bump, expect show counts to stay broad. If Sardar 2 cannot improve flat 14% occupancy, the screen-retention case weakens.
