Ranabaali, the Telugu period drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has crossed Rs 80.70 cr in worldwide gross. That is more than double the estimated Rs 37 cr lifetime gross of Dear Comrade, the pair’s previous theatrical release. But the day-wise numbers make the milestone look less like a continuing run and more like a strong opening that has now faded.
Day 20 and the shape of the run
On Wednesday, 4 November, the film collected Rs 21 lakh net in India from 479 shows, a 10.5% uptick over Tuesday’s Rs 19 lakh. The day’s average came to Rs 4,384 per show.
Across its run so far, the India net total is Rs 58.86 cr and India gross is Rs 68.35 cr. Overseas markets have added Rs 12.35 cr. The weekly split tells the story:
- Opening week (Days 1–7): Rs 45.20 cr net / Rs 52.55 cr India gross
- Week two (Days 8–14): Rs 12.10 cr net / Rs 14 cr gross, a 73.2% drop
- Week three so far (Days 15–20): Rs 1.56 cr net / Rs 1.80 cr India gross
That is a heavily front-loaded trajectory. The first seven days did most of the heavy lifting, and the third week is now working from a small base.
A reset for the Deverakonda-Mandanna pairing
Dear Comrade, released in 2019, opened at Rs 11.90 cr on its first day and finished its opening week at Rs 26.20 cr net in India across languages. Its estimated lifetime worldwide gross of Rs 37 cr came against a reported budget of Rs 25 cr, and it was considered a commercial disappointment in theatres before finding a later audience on digital and television.
With Rs 80.70 cr already on the board, Ranabaali more than doubles that lifetime figure. The film is the third collaboration between the two actors, and the gap between the two titles changes how a future pairing can be positioned: the ceiling is now demonstrably higher than the Rs 37 cr mark that had previously defined their box-office benchmark.
Read the trend, not just the milestone
For media planners and entertainment marketers, the useful signal is the slope of the decline. A 73.2% week-two fall and a six-day third-week total of Rs 1.56 cr net suggest that most theatrical value has been captured. On Wednesday, the Telugu 2D version recorded overall occupancy of 10.73%, with shows ranging from 7.82% in the morning to 9.18% at night.
The Rs 80.70 cr worldwide gross remains a real milestone, but the next source of value is likely in the post-theatrical window. That is precisely where Dear Comrade built its cult following, so the comparison to watch is no longer only the lifetime gross, but how Ranabaali performs on streaming and television once its theatrical run winds down.
