Hanuman Ansh crosses Rs 200 cr India net in week 6

After a microscopic start, Hanuman Ansh has turned into a rare backloaded theatrical success. The Vishal Chaturvedi-directed spiritual drama added Rs 22.50 crore net in India on Day 38, its sixth Sunday, taking the domestic total to Rs 214.63 crore, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Times of India.

The film has now crossed the Rs 200 crore India net mark. Worldwide gross stands at Rs 268.05 crore, with Rs 5 crore added from overseas on Day 38 and a cumulative overseas gross of Rs 14.50 crore.

The weekend that broke the record

Day 37 was the headline number earlier in the weekend. The film collected Rs 18.50 crore net, which Sacnilk reports is the highest Hindi collection for a film’s 37th day. It passed the previous mark of Rs 5.75 crore net set by Dhurandhar, more than tripling that figure.

The Sunday jump then extended the run:

  • Day 36: Rs 10.50 crore from 5,743 shows at 38.0% occupancy
  • Day 37: Rs 18.50 crore from 7,449 shows at 52.0% occupancy
  • Day 38: Rs 22.50 crore from 8,902 shows at 54.0% occupancy

For the Hindi 2D version on Sunday, occupancy reached 59.98%, with evening shows hitting 74.69% and afternoon shows at 68.85%. That matters for exhibitors: prime-time inventory is filling at a point in the run when most titles are winding down.

A curve built in reverse

Most box office stories are front-loaded. Hanuman Ansh is the opposite. Its weekly India net trajectory shows a film that built demand over time rather than burning it out on opening weekend:

  • Week 1: Rs 1.08 crore
  • Week 2: Rs 40 lakh
  • Week 3: Rs 10.40 crore
  • Week 4: Rs 61.00 crore
  • Week 5: Rs 90.25 crore

The Day 36 to Day 38 stretch alone has added over Rs 51 crore in reported net collections, pushing the cume to Rs 214.63 crore.

What this means for screen business

For media planners and entertainment marketers, Hanuman Ansh is a reminder that opening day is not the entire game. A film with low initial numbers can extend its campaign window if occupancy trends and show-count growth point to audience discovery. Between Day 36 and Day 38, show counts rose roughly 55%, from 5,743 to 8,902, while daily collections more than doubled.

The data also points to audience behaviour: a softer Friday, a sharp Saturday bounce, and a stronger Sunday suggest family and youth audiences are moving late in the weekend. For streaming and television buyers, a title with this kind of late theatrical tail could attract stronger licensing attention than its opening weekend would have suggested, though no OTT deal was reported in this update.

As official studio data updates, the exact India net may be revised. The broader signal is already clear: Hanuman Ansh has moved from a negligible opening to a Rs 200-crore domestic milestone, and its sixth weekend is still driving meaningful gross.
