Udta Teer found a second-weekend pulse after a muted Friday. The Ayushmann Khurrana-Sara Ali Khan spy comedy collected Rs 4 crore net in India on Saturday, 31 October, a 40.4% lift from the Rs 2.85 crore net it earned a day earlier.
Improvement in seat occupancy accompanied the rise, a sign that weekend moviegoers are returning.
The running tally
With Saturday added, the second-weekend two-day India collection stands at Rs 6.85 crore net and Rs 8.17 crore gross. The opening week had contributed Rs 30.90 crore net and Rs 36.86 crore gross.
- Friday, day 9: Rs 2.85 crore net
- Saturday, day 10: Rs 4 crore net, up 40.4%
- Second weekend so far: Rs 6.85 crore net / Rs 8.17 crore gross
- Domestic net total: Rs 37.75 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 55.53 crore
Where the gross is coming from
India gross accounts for Rs 45.03 crore, while overseas markets have added Rs 10.50 crore. That puts the overseas share at roughly 19% of worldwide gross — small enough that the film’s commercial fate still depends mainly on domestic ticket sales.
The latest update counted 4,978 shows for the film. After the opening week, the question is less about opening-day strength and more about how long exhibitors hold screens; Saturday’s upturn gives them a reason to hold rather than cut.
Why the second Saturday matters more than the Friday dip
For media planners and entertainment marketers, one soft day in a theatrical run can look like a story. The more useful reading is the second-weekend curve. A 40% Saturday recovery suggests that word-of-mouth and weekend scheduling are pulling audiences back, which is the signal marketers should weigh before pulling in-cinema spend or brand tie-ups.
The film’s light spy-comedy premise — Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani operative, loses his memory and starts believing he is a patriotic Indian intelligence officer — gives it a differentiated slot in a crowded Bollywood calendar. Supporting names such as Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Mukul Dev add more than just lead casting.
The opening week of Rs 30.90 crore net makes this a modest performer rather than a breakout. For the theatrical business, the practical question is whether Saturday’s gain narrows the gap between first-week arithmetic and second-week sustainability. A healthy Sunday would answer that; another fall would not.
Day 11 advance sales
Sunday will test whether this is a real hold or a one-day bounce. By 5 am IST on 1 November, Udta Teer had sold 44,327 tickets for day 11, valued at Rs 77.61 lakh. If Sunday builds on Saturday, the second-weekend total gives distributors a much cleaner hold story; if it falls back sharply, the recovery will look front-loaded.
