T-Series, Almighty Motion Picture set Jaani Dushman franchise

T-Series Films and Almighty Motion Picture are building a new theatrical horror franchise, with Bhumi Pednekar attached to lead. The project, Jaani Dushman – Darr Ke Aage Maut Hai, was announced on 4 November 2026 and will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Prabhleen Sandhu and Ajay Singhal.

Shiv Chanana and Sunita Vinod Vyas are co-producers, and the film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series.

The package

The franchise brings back the creative team behind the paranormal thriller series Bhay – The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery. Robbie Grewal is creative producer and Arshad Syed is director.

  • Set in the United Kingdom, the story centres on a mother-daughter relationship, family secrets and horror sequences.
  • Peter Pedrero joins as international horror action/stunt director; his credit list includes Harry Potter, Fast & Furious, The Expendables, Game of Thrones and The Conjuring.
  • This is the second collaboration between the two producers after Made in India – A Titan Story.

Why it matters

For the film business, this is a franchise announcement more than a casting story. The producers are pairing a known Hindi-film lead with an international stunt specialist, and setting the story outside India. That combination signals a project built to scale across markets and formats rather than a single-region genre experiment.

Bhushan Kumar framed the move as an expansion into horror for the theatrical side of T-Series. “We hope to offer audiences an engaging theatrical experience and explore the horror genre in an exciting way,” he said in the announcement.

Prabhleen Sandhu said the ambition is to “redefine Indian horror” with a theatrical experience. The actual test will be how the film is budgeted, marketed and scheduled.

The franchise economics

Horror is one of the few theatrical genres where a proven premise can be extended into sequels without carrying a star’s salary across every film. A mother-daughter relationship gives the franchise a repeatable emotional spine, and the announced action-stunt expertise of Peter Pedrero suggests physical effects will be part of the identity rather than only jump scares.

For marketers, this is not being positioned as a niche horror film. The UK setting, the international stunt credit and the franchise label are positioning tools. The proof will arrive when the film moves from announcement to production and a release calendar.

What to watch next

The announcement does not yet specify a release date, budget, additional cast or shooting timeline. For media planners and brand partners, the next signals are a first-look asset, a confirmed window and whether the producers position this as a single film or the start of a multi-title slate.

If a UK-set horror film lands with a strong local lead and international action design, it could widen the audience beyond the usual Hindi horror base. But without date and distribution detail, it remains a development announcement.
