Ranabaali day 10: Sunday Rs 2.90 cr; worldwide gross Rs 73.65 cr

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali added Rs 2.90 crore in India net on Sunday, October 25, a 3.6% lift over Saturday’s Rs 2.80 crore. The period drama has now banked Rs 53 crore in ten-day India net collections, with worldwide gross at Rs 73.65 crore, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.

A second Sunday, not a second wind

The weekend chart shows improvement, but only just:

  • Friday, October 23: Rs 2.10 crore from 1,471 shows at 30% occupancy
  • Saturday, October 24: Rs 2.80 crore from 1,569 shows at 34% occupancy
  • Sunday, October 25: Rs 2.90 crore from 1,578 shows at 36% occupancy

The Sunday gain is a Rs 10 lakh move on about 1,578 shows. Compare that with opening Sunday, October 18, when the film collected Rs 7.50 crore from 2,302 shows at 56% occupancy. The second Sunday is roughly 39% of the first Sunday’s India net, a normal fall for a star-led period drama but also a sign the theatrical run is now working with fewer screens.

What the screen count tells media planners

Show count is the number to read alongside collections. Ranabaali opened on 2,515 shows on October 16, but Sunday ran on 1,578 shows, a 37% drop in screen supply. Occupancy improved to 36% from 30% on Friday, with the Telugu 2D version’s overall occupancy at 34.88% and the 43% evening window leading the day. Demand is real in the prime slot, but the film is no longer covering the same footprint.

Footfalls underline the point: 246,584 tickets were sold on Sunday, taking cumulative admissions to 4,248,108. In a distribution conversation, that is a title holding its core audience rather than expanding into new ones.

Why the Monday number matters

For streaming and content buyers, a theatrical title’s second-weekend hold is a better input than one day’s uptick. It shows whether word of mouth is strong enough to keep a film on screens after the initial fan rush. The first week closed at Rs 45.20 crore, and the second weekend added Rs 7.80 crore from Friday to Sunday, but weekdays will carry more weight than the weekend once the next licensing window is negotiated.

Overseas added Rs 20 lakh on Sunday, taking the international gross to Rs 12.05 crore, while domestic gross stands at Rs 61.60 crore. The test is immediate: if Monday holds near Saturday-level occupancy and show count does not fall sharply again, Ranabaali is stabilising. If both slide, the Rs 73.65 crore worldwide gross is the headline while the theatrical leg is effectively closing.
