Ramayana advance hits Rs 23.28 crore gross

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is building a large pre-release base. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. As of October 26, figures tracked by Films Discourse showed about 2.16 lakh tickets sold across 161 cities for the opening weekend. The estimated gross advance is Rs 12.50 crore; excluding blocked seats, the net estimate is Rs 10.57 crore, while adding blocked seats lifts the reported gross to Rs 23.28 crore. That puts the film close to the Rs 25 crore mark before its November 5 release.

The first number to read is the 2.16 lakh tickets, because it reflects purchase intent across 161 cities. The second is the gap between net and gross. Blocked seats can make a headline figure look stronger than the paid demand behind it, so buyers and planners should track all three figures together.

Where the demand is concentrated

  • Maharashtra: 46,937 tickets, Rs 3.20 crore – the leading state.
  • Mumbai: 27,959 tickets, Rs 2.07 crore – the top city.
  • Hindi version: 1,84,010 tickets, Rs 10.98 crore, the bulk of advance sales.
  • 3D format: two data entries – 1,28,575 tickets for Rs 6.51 crore and 1,41,183 tickets for Rs 7.10 crore – so the format split still needs verification.

What the numbers mean for the trade

Maharashtra and Mumbai leading matters because they are high-priced, high-capacity markets. The Hindi version’s share of the advance tells distributors where to push last-mile marketing, and the 3D skew points to a premium-ticket opportunity, even though the exact 3D share is not yet consistent.

For media planners and entertainment marketers, this is an early demand map, not a final verdict. Advance booking shows paid intent before reviews and word-of-mouth, but it is also shaped by screen allocation, pricing and how many seats are held back. The release on Thursday, November 5, leaves room for the number to move quickly in the final days.

A practical reading

  • Compare net and gross advance side by side; do not treat blocked seats as paid demand.
  • Weight pre-release marketing toward Maharashtra, Mumbai and the Hindi version, where demand is already visible.
  • Wait for verified 3D data before setting format-level benchmarks.

The Rs 25 crore pre-release marker is now a reasonable line of sight, not a promise. The next check is how the final 48 hours convert advance interest into occupancy.
