Kannada romantic drama Premada Oorali crossed the Rs 100 crore India net mark on Day 31, ending Sunday with Rs 101.22 crore in India net collections, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India. Worldwide gross now stands at Rs 121.78 crore.
The film added Rs 3.75 crore net on Sunday, October 25, across 851 shows, a 25% jump from Saturday’s Rs 3.00 crore. Domestic gross reached Rs 118.33 crore, while cumulative overseas gross touched Rs 3.45 crore after adding Rs 10 lakh on the day.
A slow start, then a sharp build
The weekly curve explains why this run matters. The film opened with Rs 5.32 crore in week one, a total that would not normally signal a hundred-crore finish. Collections then climbed:
- Week 1: Rs 5.32 crore
- Week 2: Rs 23.65 crore
- Week 3: Rs 36.40 crore
- Week 4: Rs 27.00 crore
Week three was the strongest reported week so far. That inverse pattern, growth after a quiet start, usually means word of mouth and repeat viewing are doing more work than the opening campaign.
Written and directed by Manoj Kumar, the romantic family drama stars Shree Raam, Thapaswini Poonacha and Ramika Shivu, with Rangayana Raghu in support. But at this stage of the run, the trade conversation is less about the cast and more about the film’s hold in evening and afternoon shows.
Occupancy shows where demand is
Sunday’s Kannada 2D screenings recorded 73.44% overall occupancy. Evening shows led at 82.92%, followed by afternoon shows at 79.17%. Night shows came in at 63.92% and morning shows at 48.50%.
That time-slot spread is useful for programming teams: demand is concentrated in evening and afternoon shows, which is where additional screens should go first. The film’s show count rose from 766 on Friday to 851 on Sunday, matching the occupancy signal.
What it means for the trade
The milestone adds another Kannada title to the hundred-crore club and gives exhibitors a clear holdover case. Cumulative theatrical footfall reached 6,792,393, including 249,846 tickets sold on Sunday alone.
For a film that started with a moderate opening week, the holdover economics are compelling. The Sunday-to-Saturday collection increase of 25% and evening occupancy above 80% tell exhibitors that demand is not exhausted. That is the signal to retain, and in some markets increase, show count for the coming week.
For media planners and film marketers, the takeaway is to track week-over-week multiples, not just opening-day numbers. A simple opening-week-to-date view puts the run at roughly 19 times its first-week India net, from Rs 5.32 crore to Rs 101.22 crore. That is the kind of legs that changes screen allocation.
