Prime Video's $29.99 five-service specialty streaming bundle

Prime Video is pushing deeper into the specialty streaming economy. The Amazon-owned service has launched a $29.99-per-month U.S. bundle that combines AMC+, BritBox, MGM+, PBS Masterpiece and Starz, pitching the package as the first five-service streaming bundle available through Prime Video Channels.

The price lands at a nearly 39% discount compared with subscribing to each service separately, according to Amazon. The bundle brings prestige drama, British mystery, franchise genre programming and film libraries into a single checkout flow and watch experience.

What the package covers

The five services contribute distinct catalog strengths:

  • Starz: the Outlander franchise, S.W.A.T. Exiles, P-Valley, and the films The Housemaid and Michael.
  • AMC+: The Walking Dead universe and its vampire franchise titles.
  • BritBox: The Other Bennet Sister, Ludwig, Blue Lights and Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence.
  • MGM+: From, The Westies, A Tale of Two Cities and American Hostage.
  • PBS Masterpiece: All Creatures Great and Small, Miss Scarlet, Astrid and The Forsytes.

Ryan Pirozzi, head of Prime Video Channels, called the launch a “milestone” and said the subscriptions and bundles business keeps growing because Amazon is focused on selection, value and convenience.

Specialty SVOD is outperforming the broader market

The launch arrives as smaller, targeted services are growing faster than the premium tier. According to Antenna, specialty SVOD subscriptions rose 14% year over year to 42 million across 31 services in the second quarter. That compares with 6% growth for premium SVOD and 7% growth for the overall SVOD category.

Antenna also found that 35% of U.S. streaming customers transacted with a specialty SVOD service, up from 26% two years earlier. The number of consumers transacting with a specialty service between Q2 2024 and Q2 2026 grew 55%, from 41 million to 63.6 million, while 12 million consumers tried a specialty service for the first time in the past year.

The strategic read

For Prime Video, the bundle strengthens its position as a subscription aggregation layer rather than just a content owner. For the five programmers, it lowers acquisition cost and expands sampling without requiring a separate billing relationship. For media planners, these services are no longer fringe reach extensions: the Antenna data suggests specialty streaming is becoming a regular part of the U.S. streaming stack.

The key questions to track are retention and usage. A five-service bundle can look like a bargain on paper, but the business impact depends on whether subscribers activate enough services to avoid cancellation and whether the individual brands see meaningful engagement lift. The announcement does not specify ad loads across the included services, so buyers should confirm how inventory and measurement work in the packaged environment.
