Prime Video’s Reacher spinoff Neagley opened at the top of Nielsen’s U.S. streaming chart for Sept. 14–20, drawing 1.78 billion viewing minutes. That put the Maria Sten-led series ahead of Netflix’s Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story and the parent show itself.
The spinoff lands first
It is a strong debut, not exactly a surprise. The eight-episode binge release landed nearly level with Reacher‘s first-season launch in 2022, which posted 1.84 billion minutes. Prime Video moved quickly, announcing a second-season renewal on Thursday.
Reacher finished third for the week with 1.42 billion minutes during its fourth-season finale, up about 20 percent week to week. Since the Aug. 12 premiere, season four has accumulated 5.8 billion minutes, with the earlier seasons adding another 2.5 billion during the same stretch.
What else charted
Netflix’s fourth Monster installment opened with 1.48 billion minutes, close to the 1.52 billion that The Ed Gein Story drew in its debut week a year earlier. Paramount+’s Lioness grew about 8 percent to 897 million minutes heading into its season three finale, while Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso improved to 767 million.
On the film chart, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? repeated at No. 1 with 332 million minutes despite dropping more than 60 percent in its second week.
Read the numbers as a floor, not a ceiling
Nielsen’s streaming rankings measure U.S. viewing on TV sets only. They leave out computers, phones and tablets, so a series with heavy mobile or desktop viewing is understated in these charts. For buyers and planners, that makes the report useful for comparing titles within one consistent lens rather than as a complete audience count.
Key numbers from the week:
- 1.78 billion minutes: Neagley premiere, Prime Video
- 1.48 billion minutes: Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, Netflix
- 1.42 billion minutes: Reacher season four finale, Prime Video
- 332 million minutes: top film, Why Did I Get Married Again?, Netflix
The reusable benchmark is to measure a spinoff against its parent’s launch rather than only its chart position. Neagley came within about 3 percent of Reacher‘s 2022 debut, which is the more useful read than simply being No. 1.
