Soori’s Mandaadi recovered sharply on its second Saturday, collecting Rs 6.55 crore net in India on September 19, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Times of India. That is a 77% jump from the Rs 3.70 crore it posted a day earlier.
The second-weekend rebound was supported by more capacity, not just higher interest. Show count rose from 3,346 on Friday to 3,693 on Saturday, while overall occupancy moved from 24.4% to 34.1%.
The 10-day scoreboard
After 10 days, Mandaadi has accumulated Rs 67.55 crore in India net collections. India gross stands at Rs 79.00 crore, with Rs 14.65 crore in overseas gross. The worldwide gross total is now Rs 93.65 crore.
- First week: Rs 57.30 crore net.
- Day 9, second Friday: Rs 3.70 crore net from 3,346 shows; 24.4% occupancy.
- Day 10, second Saturday: Rs 6.55 crore net from 3,693 shows; 34.1% occupancy.

Tamil version is the growth engine
The Tamil version contributed Rs 5.70 crore of the Day 10 India net from 2,345 shows, recording 41.1% occupancy. Within Tamil 2D, night shows were the strongest slot at 61.23% occupancy, followed by evening at 40.62% and afternoon at 39%. Morning shows remained the softest at 25.23%.
The Telugu 2D version was far more modest, with 24.95% overall occupancy. Its night screenings peaked at 25.45%, while morning shows stayed in the 12.73% range.
Why the Saturday bounce matters
For distributors and media planners, second-weekend trajectory is a more reliable hold signal than opening-day noise. Mandaadi not only improved its collection per show but also added 347 shows on Saturday, which helped convert rising demand into a stronger day total.
The contrast with Karthi’s Sardar 2 is stark. On its Day 10, Sardar 2 added only Rs 25 lakh, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 22.97 crore. While the two films are in different commercial leagues, the comparison underlines how much of the Tamil box office conversation is being driven by Mandaadi right now.
