Kartik Aaryan books 3 releases in first half of 2027

Kartik Aaryan sat out 2026 from cinemas, only the third year without a theatrical release in his 15-year career after 2012 and 2016. The National Award winner for Chandu Champion returns with three releases in the first six months of 2027, each built around a different genre and production setup.

Three dates, three genres

The first title is Naagzilla, set for February 12, 2027. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, it is a fantasy-comedy in which Aaryan plays a shape-shifting naag and Ravi Kishan appears in a crucial role. Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films are producing.

The second, an untitled love saga from Anurag Basu, has been dated April 30, 2027. Sreeleela stars opposite Aaryan. T-Series announced the date; the project is being sold on Aaryan’s most intense romantic on-screen turn to date, its music, and a genre that has been working in cinemas.

The newest addition is Ladaku, set for June 18, 2027. The Kabir Khan-directed film is produced by Birla Studios and Kabir Khan Entertainment, and Aaryan also makes his producing debut via Dopamine Studios. It is described as an extraordinary real-life story of ambition, grit and hope. Reports link the plot to kickboxer Tajamul Islam, India’s youngest two-time world kickboxing champion, with Aaryan reportedly playing his coach.

  • Feb 12, 2027: Naagzilla — fantasy-comedy
  • Apr 30, 2027: Anurag Basu love saga — romance
  • Jun 18, 2027: Ladaku — inspirational drama; producing debut

What the stack means

For exhibitors and media planners, the schedule is a case of release clustering: a star returns after a blank year and is placed back into the market with titles close enough to sustain visibility, but different enough to avoid repetition. The first gap is around two and a half months; the second is about seven weeks.

The strategic defence is the genre spread. A fantasy-comedy, a romance and an inspirational real-life drama pull different audience sets, so the three films can coexist if the marketing is segmented. The risk is that promotional tails overlap. Each title has a different director and producer, so the actor’s publicity dates will be a shared resource in the first half of 2027.

What to watch

The June release is the sharpest test. Ladaku reunites Aaryan with Chandu Champion director Kabir Khan, adds a real-life sports story, and puts Aaryan in a producer’s seat for the first time. That makes the film about more than opening weekend: it is also a signal of how he plans to use his own banner in future deals.

The first half of 2027 will show whether the 2026 absence created scarcity value or simply delayed three separate campaigns into one crowded window.
