Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the ₹606-crore mark globally after eight days. Trade figures compiled by Sacnilk, cited by The Times of India, put the worldwide gross at ₹606.05 crore and India net at ₹334.35 crore.
Thursday brings a steeper weekday correction
Day 8 added ₹17.15 crore net in India, down 39.1% from Wednesday’s ₹28.15 crore. The film ran across 13,241 shows in multiple language versions. Domestic gross stands at ₹391.55 crore, while overseas markets have contributed ₹214.50 crore.
The Thursday dip extends the correction that began mid-week. The film recorded 1,189,753 footfalls on day 8, taking cumulative footfalls to 22,052,867.
Language split: Tamil is doing the heavy lifting
Tamil remained the largest contributor, earning ₹10.75 crore from 5,883 shows on Thursday. Telugu added ₹3.60 crore across 2,085 shows, Hindi collected ₹2.40 crore from 5,095 shows, and Kannada contributed ₹40 lakh through 178 shows. Tamil accounted for roughly 62.7% of Thursday’s India net collection.
Occupancy signals are uneven
Tamil 2D screenings recorded 32.75% overall occupancy, with night shows at 40.69%, evening at 38.15%, afternoon at 30.15% and morning at 22%. Telugu was at 30.68% overall. Hindi was the softest at 19.94%. Kannada recorded the highest occupancy at 38%, but from only 178 shows—a sign that limited supply is keeping halls fuller despite the small collection.
Day-wise India net collections
- Day 1 (Oct 15): ₹59.70 cr
- Day 2: ₹37.10 cr
- Day 3: ₹47.25 cr
- Day 4: ₹55.85 cr
- Day 5: ₹42.35 cr
- Day 6: ₹46.80 cr
- Day 7: ₹28.15 cr
- Day 8: ₹17.15 cr
State-wise gross on day 8 was ₹20.10 crore. Tamil Nadu led with ₹7.50 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at ₹4 crore, Karnataka at ₹3.65 crore, Kerala at ₹2.20 crore, and the rest of India at ₹2.75 crore.
What to watch next
For media planners and marketers, the headline figure matters less than the language-level detail. Hindi’s sub-20% occupancy suggests the dubbed version is not carrying the film outside the core Tamil market. Kannada’s high occupancy on a small show count is the kind of signal exhibitors can use before adding screens.
The second weekend will show whether Jailer 2 stabilises or turns into a largely Tamil-led run.
