Jailer 2 is now a Rs 765.15 cr worldwide grosser after 15 days in cinemas, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Times of India. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed Rajinikanth-Hrithik Roshan action drama added Rs 5.90 cr net in India on Thursday, an 18.1% step down from Wednesday’s Rs 7.20 cr.
The daily decline is not the headline. The comparison is: fifteen days out, Jailer 2 has already passed the entire worldwide run of Rajinikanth’s previous release Coolie, which closed at Rs 493.48 cr. That puts the sequel roughly 55% ahead of Coolie‘s lifetime gross.
Day 15: the hold, not the total
The film’s second-weekend momentum shows why the weekday fade is normal. Friday brought Rs 14.50 cr, Saturday Rs 24.15 cr and Sunday Rs 25.70 cr. Monday fell to Rs 9.45 cr, Tuesday to Rs 8.30 cr, Wednesday to Rs 7.20 cr, and Thursday to Rs 5.90 cr. In distribution language, the sequel is showing legs: it is holding a weekday floor rather than collapsing.
Cumulative India net has reached Rs 429.55 cr, with domestic gross at Rs 502.65 cr. Overseas added Rs 2 cr on Thursday, taking the international gross to Rs 262.50 cr.
Language split: Tamil carries, Hindi lags
On day 15, the Tamil version collected Rs 3.20 cr from 4,462 shows. Telugu added Rs 1.40 cr from 1,665 screenings, Hindi Rs 1.10 cr from 3,972 shows, and Kannada Rs 20 lakh from 214 shows. Occupancy tells the demand story: Telugu led at 19.1%, Tamil at 18.1%, Kannada at 18%, and Hindi at 9%.
- Tamil Nadu alone delivered Rs 2.65 cr of the Rs 6.85 cr tracked gross, a 38.7% share.
- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 1.30 cr; Karnataka added Rs 1.10 cr.
- Kerala contributed Rs 70 lakh; the remaining Indian markets added Rs 1.10 cr.
For buyers, Hindi is the softest spot. The Hindi version ran 3,972 shows — more than double Telugu’s show count — but collected less, and its occupancy was roughly half the South Indian average.
Why the Coolie comparison matters
At the same 15-day mark, Coolie earned Rs 2.40 cr net from 7,680 shows, against Jailer 2‘s Rs 5.90 cr from 10,313 shows. Tamil day-15 numbers are also far apart: Rs 1.25 cr for Coolie versus Rs 3.20 cr for Jailer 2. The sequel is not simply bigger at launch; it is holding better at the same stage.
Coolie finished at Rs 271.50 cr India net, Rs 317.23 cr India gross and Rs 493.48 cr worldwide. Jailer 2 has already crossed all three totals. Media planners and distributors should read that as a franchise expansion, not a one-film spike.
Footfalls support the screen-level story: 479,990 admissions on day 15 took the cumulative total to 28,862,750.
What to do with this data
Benchmark a sequel against the same day of the previous release, not against its own opening-weekend peak. Split language occupancy before allocating show counts or regional marketing. The next data point is whether the weekday floor holds around the Rs 5 cr mark while Tamil, Telugu and Karnataka continue to carry revenue.
