Apple TV+ Wins 28 Emmys as Widow's Bay Breaks Record

Apple TV+ moves to the top of the Emmy table

Apple TV+ recorded its strongest Emmy performance since launching in 2019, leading all platforms and networks with 28 wins at Monday’s ceremonies. Including parent company Apple’s award for best commercial, the company’s total reached 29 from 87 nominations — a conversion rate of exactly one-third.

The first-year horror-comedy Widow’s Bay powered half that haul, winning 14 Emmys and breaking the previous comedy record of 13. That mark was set just last year by another Apple series, The Studio. Widow’s Bay took six awards during the primetime telecast, including best comedy series, after picking up eight at Creative Arts.

The 2026 Emmy scoreboard

HBO Max, last year’s leader, finished second with 21 awards. Netflix took third with 16. Prime Video was the only other outlet in double figures.

  • Apple TV+: 28 awards, led by Widow’s Bay (14) and Pluribus (6)
  • HBO Max: 21 awards, led by DTF St. Louis (7) and The Pitt (6)
  • Netflix: 16 awards, led by Beef (3) and Love on the Spectrum (3)
  • Prime Video: 10 awards, including five shared with MGM+ for Spider-Noir

NBC, Peacock, CBS and Disney+ were among the other multiple winners, with 8, 7, 6 and 6 awards respectively.

New series, not library depth, drove the win

Apple’s breakout came from first-year programming. Pluribus won six awards, including drama lead actress for Rhea Seehorn and drama writing for Vince Gilligan. Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Palm Royale, Slow Horses and Mr. Scorsese accounted for the remaining eight Apple TV+ wins.

That matters for a platform with a smaller content slate. Before 2025, Apple TV+ had never exceeded 10 Emmy wins in a single year. It jumped to 22 last year and now sits at 29, while converting a third of its nominations. HBO Max and Netflix entered the night with more nominations but finished with fewer wins.

Why the Emmy scoreboard matters commercially

For streaming executives, awards are not just prestige. They shape subscriber acquisition messaging, retention campaigns, talent negotiations and licensing conversations. Apple TV+ can now market a record-breaking comedy and a breakthrough drama in the same cycle, supporting a stronger per-title value story.

For media planners and entertainment marketers, the show-level numbers signal where high-attention content is consolidating. The 2026 result suggests Apple is competing with fewer titles but a higher conversion rate, while HBO Max still generates volume across its combined HBO and streaming brands and Netflix spreads wins across a broader slate.
