Ranabaali added ₹6.36 crore net in India on Tuesday, October 20, trade tracker Sacnilk reported. That is a 17.8% improvement over Monday’s ₹5.40 crore, and it takes the film’s five-day India net collection to ₹35.81 crore.
The Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna period drama played across 2,234 shows on its first Tuesday. It began its run on October 16 with ₹9.25 crore and 57% occupancy, then moved through a weekend pattern before the first weekday.
- Friday: ₹9.25 crore, 57% occupancy
- Saturday: ₹7.30 crore, 53% occupancy
- Sunday: ₹7.50 crore, 56% occupancy
- Monday: ₹5.40 crore
- Tuesday: ₹6.36 crore
What the Tuesday bump does and doesn’t say
For box-office readers, the Tuesday number is encouraging because it is being measured against the right baseline. Monday and Tuesday are both working days, so the ₹6.36 crore print is a like-for-like gain over ₹5.40 crore, not a weekend holdover.
But one working-day improvement is not a trend. The five-day total of ₹35.81 crore is modest for a period drama with this casting, and the reported occupancy has stayed in a narrow band: 57% on Friday, 53% on Saturday and 56% on Sunday. The sharper test comes on Wednesday and Thursday.
Why the film has trade attention
Ranabaali is set during the Great Famine of 1876-78 in the Madras Presidency and follows a fictional rebellion against British colonial rule. Vijay Deverakonda plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a Rayalaseema warrior; Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife; and Arnold Vosloo plays Sir Theodore Hector, a British commissioner inspired by colonial administrators.
The film reunites Deverakonda and Mandanna after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. At the release-day press conference, Mandanna said the role felt different from their earlier films and added, “He’s a one-man show,” describing Deverakonda’s immersion in the character.
What to watch next
For media planners and entertainment marketers, the useful metric is the midweek hold. If Wednesday stays near Monday’s ₹5.40 crore, weekday interest is firming; if it falls back under ₹5 crore, Tuesday will look like a one-day bump rather than a recovery.
The next two days will show whether Tuesday was an early sign of word-of-mouth or simply a correction after a soft Monday.
