Jailer 2 crosses Rs 477.75 cr worldwide gross in 5 days

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 held above Rs 40 crore in India net collections on its first Monday, enough to push its five-day worldwide gross to Rs 477.75 crore. The day-five number was lower than Sunday’s peak, but the film’s language-level occupancy tells a clearer story about where demand is concentrated.

The Monday number

Jailer 2 earned Rs 42.35 crore in India net collections on October 19, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India. That is a 24.2% drop from Sunday’s Rs 55.85 crore. Shows remained wide at 15,215, and overall occupancy was 49.9%.

The five-day India net total now stands at Rs 242.25 crore. Domestic gross is Rs 283.75 crore. Overseas added Rs 10 crore on day five, taking the overseas gross to Rs 194 crore and the worldwide gross to Rs 477.75 crore.

  • Day 1 Thursday: Rs 59.70 crore, 16,599 shows, 55.4% occupancy
  • Day 2 Friday: Rs 37.10 crore, 13,157 shows, 48.2% occupancy
  • Day 3 Saturday: Rs 47.25 crore, 14,604 shows, 53.9% occupancy
  • Day 4 Sunday: Rs 55.85 crore, 15,473 shows, 62% occupancy
  • Day 5 Monday: Rs 42.35 crore, 15,215 shows, 49.9% occupancy

Monday recorded 2,884,312 footfalls, taking cumulative admissions over five days to 15,905,838.

Where the demand is

The Tamil version remains the dominant revenue engine. It contributed Rs 31.40 crore on Monday with 69.9% occupancy across 7,853 shows. Telugu added Rs 7.15 crore at 50.3% occupancy, Hindi added Rs 3.35 crore at 19% occupancy, and Kannada added Rs 0.45 crore at 42% occupancy.

The time-band data shows a classic evening-heavy pattern for the Tamil version: morning occupancy was 52.08%, afternoon 70%, evening 74.92%, and night shows reached 82.46%. The Hindi version peaked at 40.83% in night shows, while Telugu night shows reached 57.83%.

Why the Monday drop is not a warning

A 24.2% Monday decline from Sunday is not unusual for a front-loaded tentpole. Sunday was the opening run’s highest day at Rs 55.85 crore. The Monday figure is still higher than Friday’s Rs 37.10 crore, which suggests the film recovered after a soft second day and is now settling into a normal weekday rhythm rather than collapsing.

State-wise, Tamil Nadu led Monday with Rs 22.50 crore gross. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed Rs 8.25 crore, Kerala Rs 8 crore, Karnataka Rs 6.50 crore, and the rest of India Rs 4.25 crore, for a combined gross of Rs 49.50 crore.

The context for the trade

Sacnilk notes that Jailer 2 has become the biggest Tamil release of 2026 so far, ahead of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and GOAT and Suriya’s Karuppu and Vishwanath And Sons. For Rajinikanth, it is currently his fourth-highest grosser after 2.0, Coolie and the original Jailer, according to the report. If it sustains momentum, it could move past those titles.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 released on October 15, 2026 as a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer.
