Day four: the grind begins
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali is now at Rs 43.85 crore in worldwide gross after four days in cinemas, according to Sacnilk. The first Monday added an estimated Rs 5.40 crore India nett, taking the domestic nett total to Rs 29.45 crore.
The split: Rs 34.35 crore India gross and Rs 9.50 crore overseas gross. Monday’s overseas contribution was small at about Rs 50 lakh, which puts the pressure back on domestic holds through the week.
What the first Monday reveals
The film opened at Rs 9.25 crore nett on Friday, then moved to Rs 7.30 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.50 crore on Sunday. Sunday’s 2.7% uptick was a relief but still left the film below its opening-day number. Monday’s Rs 5.40 crore across 2,186 shows is a 28% drop from Sunday.
That slope matters more than the total. A front-loaded opening can generate headlines; the first Monday shows whether the film has enough repeat or word-of-mouth audience to keep screens through a second weekend. For media planners and distribution teams, the question is whether Monday is a one-day correction or the start of a steeper weekday slide.
The commercial benchmark
Ranabaali is reported to have been made on a budget of around Rs 120 crore. Against that base, a Rs 43.85 crore worldwide gross after four days is a start, not a recovery. The film is still roughly Rs 6.15 crore short of the Rs 50 crore worldwide milestone, and crossing it in the next two to three days depends on how gently the weekdays decline.
The film has received mixed responses from critics and audiences, so the theatrical run will need more than the initial interest around Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s first on-screen reunion since their wedding in February. Rahul Sankrityan directs; the cast also includes Arnold Vosloo as the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector.
What to track next
- Tuesday’s hold: a smaller day-on-day fall would suggest the audience is stabilising.
- The second weekend: this is where a Rs 50 crore-plus run becomes likely or stalls.
- Overseas momentum: Rs 9.50 crore gross so far, with only about Rs 50 lakh on Monday.
For media planners and marketers, Ranabaali is a useful live case in how opening-day noise converts into hold. The milestone is close, but the trendline matters more than the round number.
