Mandaadi crosses Rs 50 cr India net in 6 days

Soori’s Mandaadi, released September 10, has crossed the Rs 50 crore India net mark in six days. The film added Rs 4.40 crore India net from 3,542 shows on Day 6, taking its cumulative India net total to Rs 50.25 crore, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.

The worldwide gross now stands at Rs 69.43 crore, with Rs 58.78 crore gross from India and Rs 10.65 crore from overseas markets.

A weekend-led run

The daily India net trajectory shows a film that built strongly into the weekend before cooling on Tuesday:

  • Day 1: Rs 4.85 crore
  • Day 2: Rs 6.70 crore
  • Day 3: Rs 10.00 crore
  • Day 4: Rs 13.05 crore
  • Day 5: Rs 11.25 crore
  • Day 6: Rs 4.40 crore

The Tuesday total is a 60.9 percent drop from Monday’s Rs 11.25 crore. That is not automatically a red flag for a South Indian title that front-loads across the weekend; it is the baseline test for holdover screen decisions.

Where Tuesday’s money came from

The Tamil version did the heavy lifting, collecting Rs 3.40 crore from 2,467 shows with 31.1 percent occupancy. The Telugu version added Rs 1.00 crore from 1,075 shows with 25.0 percent occupancy. State-wise gross for the day was Rs 5.15 crore, led by Tamil Nadu at Rs 3.50 crore and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana at Rs 1.10 crore.

For exhibition planners, the occupancy curve matters. In the Tamil 2D version, overall occupancy was 38.82 percent, but night shows reached 51.08 percent and evening shows 40.92 percent. Morning shows lagged at 24.77 percent. That points to a title with late-day demand; screen allocation can be tilted toward prime-time shows in week two.

The comparison: Sardar 2

Karthi’s Sardar 2 is tracking very differently. It added Rs 54 lakh India net on Day 6 from 2,260 shows, a 64.0 percent drop from Monday’s Rs 1.50 crore. Its cumulative India net total is Rs 13.64 crore, with a worldwide gross of Rs 20.47 crore.

The opening-day numbers were similar: Rs 4.85 crore for Mandaadi versus Rs 4.50 crore for Sardar 2. From there, Mandaadi grew into the weekend, while Sardar 2 fell to Rs 2.45 crore, Rs 2.20 crore, Rs 2.45 crore, Rs 1.50 crore and Rs 54 lakh. By the end of the first Tuesday, Mandaadi had built a 3.7x lead in India net collections.

That gap is the practical difference between a film that converts audience sampling into repeat and regional-language spillover demand, and one that loses screens after opening day. For media planners and distributors, the week-two hold for Mandaadi will indicate whether the Rs 50 crore run has room to expand beyond the core Tamil market.
