Raj Shamani's Figuring Out, near 20M subscribers, signs WME

Raj Shamani, the host of Figuring Out, has signed with WME in all areas. The signing places one of India’s biggest knowledge-led podcasts on the same agency roster as film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

The property WME is getting

Figuring Out with Raj Shamani has built its reach on high-wattage guests. Emmanuel Macron, Bill Gates, Michael Phelps, Andrew Huberman and Sunita Williams have all appeared, talking business, wealth, health, relationships and human behavior. WME puts the show at nearly 20 million YouTube subscribers, calling it one of the world’s biggest podcasts on the platform. It is also the number one ranked podcast on Spotify in India.

Shamani is more than a host. He founded Figuring Out Media and the Figuring Out Academy, wrote the 2022 book Build, Don’t Talk, invests in businesses and has spoken at the UN Youth Assembly and World Government Summit. Signing in all areas bundles those pieces—hosting, IP, publishing and speaking—under one representation umbrella.

Why this is a creator-economy signal

Indian podcasting has largely been an audio-first story for advertisers. This deal reframes a top show as a cross-platform video and audio property with global ambitions. Shamani’s own framing is deliberately global: “Where you are born should never determine what knowledge you have access to or how big you’re allowed to dream.”

WME’s existing India roster shows the agency already knows how to package Indian talent for international markets. Adding a creator with nearly 20 million subscribers extends that play beyond film and into education-led media, which advertisers tend to treat as brand-safe and premium.

The show’s positioning matters because education-led content carries fewer brand-safety concerns than entertainment gossip. That makes it easier for WME to approach global sponsors across categories like finance, productivity, health and skilling.

What media planners should track

When a creator property moves to a major agency, the commercial structure usually becomes more formal: packaged sponsorships, audience splits, format licensing and live or IP extensions. For buyers, the negotiation shifts from sponsoring a show to partnering with a media brand.

  • Watch how WME positions Figuring Out across YouTube and Spotify buys.
  • Expect richer audience data and more structured brand-integration formats.
  • Treat education-led video podcasts as a distinct premium inventory category.

For Indian OTT and audio platforms, the competitive question is whether top creators stay platform-native or become talent-agency properties. If more follow, platform exclusivity may weaken in favor of multi-format, multi-market deals.

The short-term test is whether this India-heavy audience can be sold as a global education franchise. For advertisers, the upside is clear: a high-reach, values-led format with a proven guest pipeline is rare inventory.
