Baththa crosses Rs 11.35 crore in five days

Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa has crossed the Rs 11 crore net mark in India inside five days. The first Monday, however, shows the film has entered the more difficult phase of its run: the hold test.

The five-day number

As per Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India, the action drama collected Rs 1.30 crore net on Day 5 (October 5) across 1,214 shows, with occupancy at about 25 per cent. That takes the five-day India net to an estimated Rs 11.35 crore, while the India gross total stands at Rs 13.18 crore.

Weekend stack

The film opened with Rs 1.50 crore net on October 1. It then improved to Rs 2.70 crore on Day 2 and Rs 2.75 crore on Day 3. Sunday was the strongest day, with Rs 3.10 crore from 1,290 shows. Monday’s Rs 1.30 crore is the lowest single-day figure so far—a normal first-weekday correction, but also a signal of the floor the film must now hold.

Why the weekday matters more than the total

For exhibitors and distributors, the Rs 11.35 crore figure is not the verdict. The next three days will show whether the audience is spreading word of mouth or whether the weekend was frontloaded. If the film can stay above Rs 1 crore per day through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, it can retain screens into the second weekend. If it cannot, show counts are likely to be trimmed for the next release.

  • Watch Tuesday-to-Thursday net—does it hold above Rs 1 crore?
  • Track occupancy alongside show count; 25% on Monday is thin.
  • Watch the second-weekend show count for signals of exhibitor confidence.

Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and set in 1986 Madras, Baththa revolves around an unexpected bond between a local don and an eight-year-old boy. Presented by Atlee, with music by Sai Abhyankkar, the film’s commercial test is now about durability, not discovery.
