Nani and Kayadu Lohar’s action drama The Paradise is now comfortably past the Rs 100 crore mark in India, but its second Monday tells a more regional story than the headline total suggests.
Day 12: a normal second-week correction
On its second Monday, The Paradise added Rs 1.10 crore net across 1,503 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India. That is a 47.6% fall from the Rs 2.10 crore it collected on second Sunday. Overall occupancy stood at 19.2%.
The cumulative India net is now Rs 116.20 crore, with India gross at Rs 137.03 crore. The film crossed Rs 100 crore in week one at Rs 108.20 crore net. Worldwide gross has reached Rs 168.08 crore, with overseas contributing Rs 31.05 crore gross.
The language split matters more than the total
The Telugu version is carrying this run. On Day 12, it collected Rs 1.07 crore net from 1,371 shows at around 20% occupancy. The Hindi version added only Rs 3 lakh from 132 shows at 11% occupancy. Across languages, the film recorded 117,539 footfalls for the day.
- Second-Monday drop: 47.6% from Sunday is a sharp but ordinary weekday correction for an action drama.
- Language concentration: roughly 97% of Monday’s India net came from the Telugu version.
- Overseas share: Rs 31.05 crore gross against Rs 137.03 crore India gross keeps this a domestic-led performance.
Why this matters for the screen business
For media planners, distributors and streaming buyers, the useful signal is not just the Rs 116 crore total. A Telugu-heavy performance with a marginal Hindi day implies very different licensing and marketing value by language. If this trend holds, post-theatrical deals will likely treat The Paradise as a regional blockbuster, not a pan-India title.
The sub-20% occupancy also suggests exhibitors will begin trimming shows in week three. The competing Fahadh Faasil title Don’t Trouble The Trouble remains small: Rs 3.35 crore net after four days, with Monday at Rs 31 lakh from 720 shows and occupancy down to 13%.
What to watch next
The next test is whether The Paradise can hold above Rs 1 crore on subsequent weekdays and whether Telugu occupancy stabilises. If it does, the film has a longer theatrical life; if not, screen counts will matter more than the absolute total.
