Sigma hits Rs 6.11 crore net in four days

Jason Sanjay’s first film as director, Sigma, is showing the kind of Monday behaviour that small and mid-range releases need. The bilingual Tamil-Telugu title added an estimated Rs 76 lakh on its first Monday from 1,520 shows, taking its four-day India net to Rs 6.11 crore. India gross currently stands at about Rs 7 crore.

The day-by-day trajectory

The opening weekend was front-loaded but controlled:

  • Day 1: Rs 2.35 crore net from 1,813 shows at 31.1% occupancy
  • Day 2: Rs 1.50 crore net from 1,802 shows at 22.6% occupancy
  • Day 3: Rs 1.50 crore net from 1,753 shows at 23.6% occupancy
  • Day 4: Rs 76 lakh net from 1,520 shows

Language split on Monday

The Telugu version contributed the bigger share on Monday: Rs 43 lakh from 796 shows at 18% occupancy. The Tamil version added Rs 33 lakh from 724 shows at 17% occupancy. That gap is useful for distribution teams deciding where to push additional shows.

Why the Monday hold matters

Monday’s Rs 76 lakh means the film retained roughly half of Sunday’s Rs 1.50 crore. For a modest, non-star-led title, that is a healthy hold: it points to some word-of-mouth rather than a pure opening spike. With a four-day net of Rs 6.11 crore, the Rs 10 crore milestone is now a realistic near-term target if weekday collections remain stable through Thursday.

What is driving the film

Sigma stars Sundeep Kishan as Guru, a man trying to keep a debt-ridden library running while searching for a way to repay a local gangster. He turns to a book podcast as a possible income source. Faria Abdullah plays Sam, an RJ and the romantic lead; Raju Sundaram and Anbu Thasan also feature. The ensemble includes Sampath, Shiv Pandit, Magalakshmi Sudarsanan and others in a plot built around crime, a missing person and a planned double cross.

What to watch next

For media planners and distribution teams, the key line is not the opening day but the hold through Tuesday to Thursday. If the Telugu version continues to outperform Tamil, that signals where incremental marketing and screens should be placed. For the industry, this debut is also a small test of whether a content-driven bilingual can convert steady holds into a respectable lifetime total.
