Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam The Conclusion has opened at Rs 62.03 crore in India, making it the second-highest first-day grosser of 2026, according to Bollywood Hungama box office data. The Abhishek Pathak-directed film trails only Dhurandhar The Revenge, which leads the year at Rs 90 crore.
The top of the chart is spread thin
The first-day number puts the film Rs 11.72 crore ahead of Toxic, which opened at Rs 50.31 crore, and nearly Rs 30 crore clear of Border 2 at Rs 32.10 crore. Below that, the rest of 2026’s top 10 opening days fall away sharply.
- Dhurandhar The Revenge: Rs 90 crore
- Drishyam The Conclusion: Rs 62.03 crore
- Toxic: Rs 50.31 crore
- Border 2: Rs 32.10 crore
- Mirzapur – The Movie: Rs 24.47 crore
- Awarapan 2: Rs 21.89 crore
- Welcome To The Jungle: Rs 14.80 crore
- Dhamaal 4: Rs 13.72 crore
- Cocktail 2: Rs 13.10 crore
- Bhooth Bangla: Rs 11.50 crore
The important takeaway is the concentration at the top. Only two 2026 releases have cleared Rs 60 crore on day one, and the difference between third and fourth is more than Rs 18 crore. For exhibitors and distributors, that makes the opening-day chart a two-film contest at the top, with everyone else fighting for a second tier.
Advance bookings signalled demand early
Bollywood Hungama reports more than 80,500 tickets were sold across PVR INOX and Cinepolis before release. That matters because it shows the first-day number was supported by pre-committed audiences rather than purely walk-up demand.
For media planners, the advance figure is a useful leading indicator. A high pre-sale number on a franchise finale suggests the marketing has already converted awareness into intent, and the opening day is the point of delivery rather than the start of discovery. The question is whether that demand broadens or stays front-loaded.
The weekend is the real test
Opening-day rank alone does not decide a film’s commercial fate. The gap to Dhurandhar The Revenge is close to Rs 28 crore, so Drishyam The Conclusion would need stronger Saturday and Sunday growth to challenge that film’s total. A good hold would confirm the finale has genuine staying power. A sharp drop would suggest the campaign pulled in the core franchise audience early and now needs a second phase.
