Disney+ is extending its local-partner playbook to Indonesia, the latest move in a strategy of teaming with local streamers to buy reach instead of building it from zero. The global streamer has now launched a joint subscription with Vidio, Indonesia’s leading streaming service.
The product, the Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle, combines Vidio Ultimate All Screen with Disney+’s standard tier. Subscribers get Disney’s global catalog—including Only Murders in the Building, Star Wars and Marvel titles, and Asia Pacific originals—alongside Vidio’s local rights to the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and BRI Super League. Live TV and local original series are part of the same package.
There is also a lighter touch. Every Vidio subscriber gains access to a curated “Taste of Disney+” collection, with select episodes of Korean original Flex X Cop Season 2, U.S. crime-comedy High Potential, animated series Sofia the First and medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
The local-partner playbook
Disney+ has used content-sharing and bundle deals outside the U.S. to expand its footprint through local platforms. This is its first such partnership in Indonesia.
Tony Zameczkowski, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Direct-to-Consumer, Asia Pacific at The Walt Disney Company, said the agreement fits a focus on “accelerating collaborations to expand the reach, engagement and fandom of Disney+ in APAC.”
The partner choice is the story. Media Partners Asia has ranked Vidio as Indonesia’s top streamer for the past four years, giving Disney+ immediate distribution into a subscriber base built on sports and live TV—viewing habits a Hollywood catalog alone cannot easily replicate.
Why the bundle structure matters
Indonesia is a high-volume, price-sensitive streaming market where local sports and live TV often lead subscription decisions. For Disney+, partnering with Vidio reduces the cost of acquiring those households and gives its global originals a local distribution window. For Vidio, the collaboration adds premium depth to a service already anchored by sports rights.
Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio, said the deal brings together “two complementary entertainment experiences into one of Indonesia’s most complete premium entertainment offerings.” For marketers, the mechanics are more interesting than the content list.
- Global IP supplies the brand pull; local sports and live TV supply the daily habit.
- The free sampler gives every Vidio user a top-of-funnel Disney+ experience without switching apps.
- The bundle targets households that may not add a standalone global service but will pay for a combined local offer.
What to track next
The test will be retention and conversion: whether bundled subscribers stay longer than standalone Disney+ users in comparable markets, and whether the Taste collection converts Vidio-only users into full Disney+ subscribers. Pricing and rollout details were not announced, but the offer sets up a clean experiment for the APAC streaming market.
