Ramayana Day 3 Advance: Rs 47.05 cr Gross from 12.19 Lakh Tickets

Before Ramayana’s third day even begins, a substantial chunk of the weekend is already locked. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash mythological epic has sold 12,19,924 tickets across 22,572 shows for its Day 3 advance booking, translating to Rs 47.05 crore gross, Bollywood Hungama reported.

The demand is not evenly spread

Maharashtra leads the state table with Rs 9.81 crore gross from 1,79,700 tickets across 3,677 shows. Karnataka is close behind with Rs 8.59 crore gross from 1,68,309 tickets across 1,434 shows, and NCR has recorded Rs 5.12 crore gross from 82,431 tickets across 2,016 shows.

Karnataka is the data point to watch. Yash’s home state is generating near-Maharashtra gross from less than half the show count. A quick per-show read puts Karnataka’s advance gross at roughly Rs 59,900 per show, against Maharashtra’s roughly Rs 26,700; NCR runs in a similar band to Maharashtra. That gap is a reminder that star-driven micro-markets can move a national number out of proportion to their screen share.

  • Maharashtra: Rs 9.81 cr gross, 1,79,700 tickets, 3,677 shows
  • Karnataka: Rs 8.59 cr gross, 1,68,309 tickets, 1,434 shows
  • NCR: Rs 5.12 cr gross, 82,431 tickets, 2,016 shows

City-level data shows the same pattern. Mumbai has logged Rs 2.35 crore gross from 41,668 tickets. Bengaluru appears twice in the reported figures, with Rs 2.06 crore and Rs 1.92 crore gross, pointing to especially strong demand in Karnataka’s capital.

Why this matters for planners

Advance sales are a pre-show signal, not a finished result. They tell media planners and entertainment marketers where intent has already converted into a ticket. A high advance in Karnataka relative to show count suggests the state can absorb more inventory or justify higher share of voice in the final weekend push. Likewise, Maharashtra and NCR are reliable volume bases, but their per-show levels suggest they may lean more on spot bookings and walk-ins.

For a theatrical release, advance booking works like a pre-registration layer. It creates a live demand map in the final 48 hours, while marketing budgets can still be adjusted. Streaming platforms report viewership after the fact; the box office pre-sale reports it before the fact, which is why this number gets so much trade attention.

But the pre-sale is also a floor, not a ceiling. Some advance-heavy films open big and flatten; others under-book in advance but surge on the day. Planners should use the split to weight spend, not to call the weekend early.

Watch the gap, not just the total

The metric to track next is the difference between this Rs 47.05 crore gross advance base and the eventual Day 3 gross once spot bookings are counted. A wide gap means strong same-day momentum; a narrow gap means the audience had largely pre-committed and the growth ceiling may be lower than expected for that day.
