Jailer 2 tops Rs 821.10 cr worldwide, doubles GOAT's run

The latest number

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 added Rs 3 crore net in India on Wednesday, November 4, playing across 8,004 shows in multiple languages. The cumulative domestic net now stands at Rs 466.05 crore, with India gross at Rs 545.10 crore.

Overseas, Day 21 brought in Rs 75 lakh, taking the cumulative overseas gross to Rs 276 crore. That moves the worldwide gross to Rs 821.10 crore.

Why the GOAT comparison matters

The figure is nearly double the estimated Rs 440–460 crore lifetime worldwide gross of Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). GOAT was a big-budget action thriller, with a reported production budget of Rs 380–400 crore. It finished with Tamil Nadu contributing more than Rs 220 crore and overseas markets around Rs 165 crore. Jailer 2 has already gone past that, with overseas alone at Rs 276 crore.

For film-business planners, this is a signal that a sequel with a returning star can reset the ceiling for Tamil action films, not just match its predecessor.

Where Day 21 collections came from

  • Tamil: Rs 1.80 crore from 3,584 shows
  • Hindi: Rs 65 lakh from 3,428 shows
  • Telugu: Rs 40 lakh from 780 shows
  • Kannada: Rs 15 lakh from 212 shows

State-wise, Tamil Nadu led with Rs 1.45 crore. Karnataka contributed Rs 45 lakh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rs 40 lakh, Kerala Rs 40 lakh, and the rest of India Rs 75 lakh. Tamil is the primary engine; Hindi is a much smaller add-on even with a comparable show count.

Read the hold, not just the milestone

The first eight days generated Rs 334.35 crore net. Week two earned Rs 95.55 crore net, a 71.4% drop from the opening period. In the third week so far, the film has added Rs 36.15 crore net. Day 21 itself slipped 10.4% from Rs 3.35 crore the previous day.

Occupancy tells the same story. Kannada led at 21%, Telugu at 17%, Tamil at 14.2% and Hindi at 8%. The film is still holding screens, but it is no longer an event in every language. For media planners and platform buyers, the operational number is the language-level share and show count—not the global headline.

What to watch next

The next planning question is the final worldwide number. If Jailer 2 keeps adding even Rs 2–3 crore net on weekdays, every language-level figure will matter for how distributors pitch the film’s satellite and streaming window. For now, the benchmark has moved: a Tamil action sequel has effectively doubled the lifetime total of a recent star-led release.
