Jailer 2 nears ₹500-crore India club at ₹495 crore gross

Jailer 2 banked ₹6.55 crore net in India on day 14, running across 10,542 shows, according to Sacnilk data reported by The Economic Times. The sequel has now put ₹423 crore net in India on the board, with domestic gross at ₹495 crore.

Where day-14 money came from

The Tamil version remains the engine, but the dubbed versions are doing real work. The day-14 language split looked like this:

  • Tamil: ₹3.65 crore from 4,553 shows
  • Telugu: ₹1.50 crore from 1,736 shows
  • Hindi: ₹1.20 crore from 4,040 shows
  • Kannada: ₹20 lakh from 213 shows

Overseas added ₹2.50 crore on day 14, taking the international gross to ₹260.50 crore.

Why the hold matters

A ₹6.55-crore day heading into the third weekend matters more than the same number would have on opening day. It signals that the film is not just front-loaded; audiences are still choosing it after two full weeks in cinemas.

For media planners and entertainment marketers, the gap between screen count and collection is the useful signal. Hindi ran 4,040 shows—nearly as many as Tamil’s 4,553—but generated less than a third of Tamil’s day-14 net. That is not a weakness. It is a distribution choice: the Hindi version buys visibility in North India while the Tamil and Telugu versions carry the economics.

What to watch next

The next milestone is the ₹500-crore domestic gross mark. At ₹495 crore, Jailer 2 needs only a modest push to get there. The third-weekend hold will show whether this is a hit with legs or a sequel riding a strong opening.

For screen and distribution teams, the practical move is to track language yield rather than just total show count. A version with fewer shows and higher per-show revenue is often the better place to protect screens.

The sequel brings back director Nelson Dilipkumar and Rajinikanth after 2023’s Jailer, and Sun Pictures produces. The ensemble includes SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa Menon, with Anirudh Ravichander scoring the film.
