YRF Takes Overseas Release Duties for Yeh Prem Mol Liya

Yash Raj Films (YRF) has picked up overseas distribution rights to Yeh Prem Mol Liya, the Rajshri Productions family entertainer directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film is set for a theatrical release on November 27.

What the deal covers

YRF’s distribution arm will release the title across international markets. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama that YRF has a “very strong distribution network” and is known to secure the best possible screens in key overseas territories. As a result, Yeh Prem Mol Liya is expected to land a healthy international release.

The agreement extends a long-standing Rajshri-YRF relationship. It is the fourth association between the two banners. YRF handled international distribution of Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003), released Sooraj Barjatya’s previous directorial Uunchai (2022) worldwide, and managed the India release of Dono (2023).

Why the overseas leg matters

For a Barjatya-style family film, the overseas release is not just about adding territories. It decides how wide the diaspora opening weekend can go, how strongly local marketing can run in international markets, and how quickly word of mouth travels back into India. A distributor with YRF’s territory relationships shortens the route to premium screens and showtimes.

There is also a talent layer. Both lead actors, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, are managed as YRF Talents, which makes the studio’s involvement around the film more visible even before a domestic distributor is named.

The strategy behind a phased release

Locking overseas first while leaving domestic open creates a two-stage deal flow. It gives producers a strong international anchor and then uses that signal to negotiate with domestic buyers. For a diaspora-friendly title, the overseas partner often becomes the proof point for how wide the release can travel.

This pattern also matters for marketers: an early overseas pact can shape creative assets, territory-level media value and the pacing of publicity from the title launch to release week.

India rights remain the next signal

The film’s India distribution is still open. Trade interest is likely to be significant because of the Rajshri brand, Sooraj Barjatya’s recall with family audiences and the film’s commercial cast. The title song launch on September 20 at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House has already added early buzz.

  • Overseas release: YRF, across international markets.
  • India release: rights still to be locked.
  • Cinema date: November 27.

For media planners, the next data points are the domestic distributor announcement and the scale of YRF’s overseas screen plan. Both will signal how aggressively the film is being targeted at the family and diaspora audience.
