Kunal Khemu’s action thriller-comedy VIBE collected Rs 20 lakh net in India on its 11th day, Monday, September 28, according to Sacnilk data compiled by The Times of India. The film played 519 shows on its second Monday.
With the Day 11 earnings, the film’s India net total stands at Rs 13.75 crore, while gross collections have reached Rs 16.40 crore.
The second-week curve
VIBE ended its opening week with Rs 11.25 crore net. Its second week is tracking below that opening momentum.
- Day 8, Friday: Rs 50 lakh from 485 shows, 26% occupancy
- Day 9, Saturday: Rs 90 lakh from 511 shows, 40% occupancy
- Day 10, Sunday: Rs 90 lakh from 521 shows, 42% occupancy
- Day 11, Monday: Rs 20 lakh from 519 shows, 14% occupancy
That puts the Sunday-to-Monday drop at roughly 78%, a steep fall even by normal weekday patterns.
The Hindi 2D version’s Day 11 occupancy was 11.94%, with morning shows at 6.15%, afternoon shows at 12.00% and evening shows at 11.46%. The absence of a meaningful evening spike suggests the film is not getting the post-work walk-ins that usually lift weekday holds.
Why Monday matters
For a mid-size Hindi release, Monday is a retention signal, not just a revenue day. It shows whether good reviews and word of mouth are converting weekend footfalls into midweek demand. VIBE has drawn positive viewer reactions, but its weekday occupancy has not yet reflected a broadening audience.
Khemu writes, produces, directs and stars in VIBE, co-starring Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and debutant Vanshika Dhir.
How to read the number
In box office analysis, a Monday figure is compared with the preceding Sunday to isolate marketing and holiday effects. A smaller drop signals a healthier hold; VIBE’s estimated 78% fall indicates that much of its weekend business was compressed into Saturday and Sunday. That pattern matters for exhibitors deciding how many screens to retain in the third week and for buyers assessing library value after the theatrical run.
The film’s show count stayed nearly flat at 519 on Monday versus 521 on Sunday, which means the drop was not primarily due to reduced inventory but to lower occupancy per screen. At 14% all-format occupancy, the average show was largely empty.
Kunal Khemu’s second directorial arrives after his 2024 debut Madgaon Express, giving the data an extra layer for producers: a filmmaker’s audience is being tested in the same theatrical market that is now more selective about mid-size titles.
