Udta Teer closes week one at Rs 46.28 cr worldwide

Udta Teer has closed its first week in theatres with Rs 46.28 cr in worldwide gross, putting the Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan starrer roughly 15% ahead of Khurrana’s previous release, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, at the same stage.

Thursday holds almost flat

The spy comedy collected Rs 2.60 cr net in India on Thursday, 29 October, across 5,744 shows. That is only a 1.9% dip from Wednesday’s Rs 2.65 cr, a small daily decline for the working week.

Domestic net after seven days stands at Rs 31.25 cr, with India gross at Rs 37.28 cr. The overseas market added Rs 50 lakh on Thursday, taking the international total to Rs 9 cr and the worldwide figure to Rs 46.28 cr.

The day-wise domestic net tells a conventional week-one curve: a weekend peak and a working-week taper.

  • Friday, 23 October: Rs 4.10 cr from 6,265 shows
  • Saturday, 24 October: Rs 7.25 cr from 6,164 shows
  • Sunday, 25 October: Rs 8.20 cr from 6,020 shows
  • Monday, 26 October: Rs 3.20 cr from 5,805 shows
  • Tuesday, 27 October: Rs 3.25 cr from 5,854 shows
  • Wednesday, 28 October: Rs 2.65 cr from 5,781 shows
  • Thursday, 29 October: Rs 2.60 cr from 5,744 shows

Audience turnout tells the same story. The film recorded 146,645 admissions on Thursday and 1,613,257 cumulative footfalls over the week. Average collection per show worked out to about Rs 4,526.

The benchmark that matters

The comparison with Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is the more useful number for the trade. At the same point in its run, that film had collected Rs 2 cr net on day seven from 4,940 shows, with a cumulative domestic net of Rs 29 cr and India gross of Rs 34.43 cr. Its overseas total was Rs 5.80 cr, leaving worldwide gross at Rs 40.23 cr.

Udta Teer therefore leads by Rs 6.05 cr worldwide, with stronger domestic and overseas totals. For distributors and marketing teams, this is a clean like-for-like: a star vehicle measured against another star vehicle, not against a genre average that may hide differences in release scale, ticket pricing or audience profile.

What the occupancy split signals

Across Hindi 2D screenings, Thursday occupancy was 12.64%. Night shows led with 17.92%, followed by evening at 11.92%, afternoon at 11.85% and morning at 6.31%. That night-time skew matters for buyers of cinema advertising and for programming decisions: it points to a working audience that is more available for late shows and weekend slots than for matinees.

For the next phase, the second-weekend hold is the number to track. Week one had a healthy weekend ramp, then a normal weekday decline. If the film retains a meaningful share of its day-one business into the second Friday, it will support a longer theatrical tail.
