Udta Teer reaches ₹33.26 crore on day 8

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer has moved from an opening-weekend growth story to a second-week hold story. The film added ₹2.36 crore on Wednesday, according to Sacnilk, taking its total India net collection to ₹33.26 crore after eight days.

The film, a Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment production, follows a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after a blast and starts believing he is an Indian Counter-Terrorism Squad officer. It marks the fourth collaboration between the two banners after The Lunchbox, Kill and Gyaarah Gyaarah. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover and Raghubir Yadav, among others.

How the run has played

The title opened at ₹4.10 crore on Friday, then climbed across its first weekend rather than fading:

  • Friday: ₹4.10 crore
  • Saturday: ₹7.25 crore
  • Sunday: ₹8.20 crore, the highest single day so far
  • Tuesday: ₹2.25 crore
  • Wednesday: ₹2.36 crore

That puts the eight-day total at ₹33.26 crore. The weekdays are modest compared with the Sunday peak, but Wednesday did not fall below Tuesday.

Discounted tickets are doing the holding

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on X, “Udta Teer remains on par with Monday on Tuesday, with the discounted ticket offer boosting footfalls.” He added that a BOGO offer on Wednesday should keep numbers stable, and pegged the week one total at around ₹31 crore, calling it a fair result.

His bigger point is runway. Adarsh noted the film has one more week to make the most of its theatrical run, starting this Friday, before Ramayana arrives on 5 November.

Why the calendar is the story

For media planners and film-trade watchers, the question is not whether Udta Teer is a blockbuster; it is whether a mid-tier title can convert a fair first week into a solid second-week hold while a much larger Diwali release is incoming. The second weekend will be the test. If Saturday can jump back toward the first Saturday’s number, the film gets a longer tail; if not, it will mostly be a first-week story.

For exhibitors, this is also a screen-hold question. A mid-sized title can keep shows on weekdays if footfalls stay stable, but a larger Diwali release will command the premium sessions and most of the screen count. The second-weekend bump is the clearest signal of whether Udta Teer has real demand left or is being kept alive by discounts.

What to watch next

The next data point is the second Friday hold. After that, the second Saturday-Sunday bump will show whether the BOGO-driven weekday stability extends into premium-priced sessions. With Ramayana set for 5 November, Udta Teer has a short window to add to its total.

This is a useful case for release planners: a discounted weekday lever kept footfalls flat in week two, but the bigger competitive event is already on the calendar.
