The Vvaan opens at Rs. 31.94 crore with mass-centre push

The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest has posted a Rs. 31.94 crore India net opening weekend, a number that lands it in the middle of 2026’s theatrical hierarchy. The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer released on September 25 and grew across its three-day frame. The most important detail is where the growth came from: Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, single screens and non-national chains, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

For distributors and media planners, that composition changes the read. A mass-centre-led weekend is different from an urban multiplex-led one, because hold pattern, screen retention and marketing pressure all behave differently through the week.

Where it sits in 2026

The Vvaan is behind nine of the year’s biggest opening-weekend performers cited in the report. The list is led by Dhurandhar The Revenge at Rs. 443 crore and includes Spider-Man: Brand New Day (English) at Rs. 257.60 crore, Border 2 at Rs. 129.89 crore, Toxic at Rs. 116.48 crore, Mirzapur: The Movie at Rs. 90.95 crore, Dhamaal 4 at Rs. 64.35 crore, Welcome To The Jungle at Rs. 63.47 crore, The Odyssey at Rs. 56.85 crore and Bhooth Bangla at Rs. 54.50 crore.

It clears several smaller 2026 releases by a wide margin:

  • The Vvaan: Rs. 31.94 crore
  • Resident Evil: Rs. 8.78 crore — Rs. 23.16 crore lower
  • Vibe: Rs. 6.58 crore — Rs. 25.36 crore lower
  • Daayra: Rs. 3.74 crore — Rs. 28.20 crore lower

Mass-centre skew is a retention signal

The source data points to single-screen and non-national-chain strength. For exhibitors, that argues for holding screens in over-performing mass pockets rather than cutting them after the weekend. For marketing teams, the campaign’s next spend should be measured against the working-day number, not the Friday hype.

The Monday hold is the first real test

Opening weekend gives the ceiling; the Monday hold gives the multiplier. A Rs. 31.94 crore start can turn into a leggy run if weekday drops are contained, or it can plateau quickly if the mass audience was front-loaded. The next box-office update should be read as a signal about lifetime value, not just a headline.
