The Vvaan: ₹33 Crore Weekend, Tier-2 Strength

The Vvaan Force of the Forrest is turning into a case study in mass-market weekend play. According to Sacnilk, the Sidharth Malhotra-Tamannaah Bhatia folk-horror thriller collected ₹8 crore on opening day, ₹11.25 crore on Saturday and an estimated ₹14 crore on Sunday by 10 pm—a three-day total of ₹33.25 crore.

The film, co-directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production.

Saturday’s jump is the real signal

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh flagged the 40.52% Saturday growth as more important than the raw Friday opening. “The Vvaan takes a big step forward, hitting double digits on Saturday, with the mass pockets and heartland delivering excellent business,” he wrote. He placed the film alongside 2026 mass entertainers that have over-indexed in non-national chains and single screens.

That distinction matters. National multiplex chains are the default reference point for urban box-office reporting, but heartland demand often shows up later and in different circuits. A 40% Saturday bump suggests positive word of mouth and an audience that is not concentrated in a handful of metros.

What the numbers look like

  • Friday: ₹8 crore
  • Saturday: ₹11.25 crore, up 40.52%
  • Sunday: ₹14 crore estimated by 10 pm
  • Three-day total: ₹33.25 crore

The Sunday haul is the film’s highest single-day number so far, and it came despite competition from Nani’s The Paradise and the Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release.

The single-screen factor

Non-national chains and single screens are often treated as a secondary circuit in trade conversations, but for mass-market Hindi titles they are where profitability is decided. A housefull board in a Tier 2 market may generate less per-screen revenue than a premium multiplex, but the volume and lower distribution cost can make the economics work. The pattern Taran Adarsh flags—Dhurandhar 2, Border 2, Bhooth Bangla, WTTJ, Dhamaal 4, Awarapan 2 and Mirzapur The Movie all over-indexing in these centres in 2026—turns a single title’s result into a trend.

Why this matters for the screen business

The film’s cultural setting—a Mumbai couple travelling to an ancestral village in Bihar around Chhath Puja—gives it a clear regional hook. Its backers have a title that is succeeding outside premium multiplexes. Filmmaker Karan Johar added social proof on Instagram, writing that the film had “hit the box office and the bulls eye.”

For media planners and distributors, the practical lesson is to treat non-national chain splits as a first-look signal, not an afterthought. If a mass title is holding in Tier 2 and Tier 3 single screens, opening-day numbers alone understate its potential.

What to watch next

Monday’s hold will determine whether ₹33.25 crore is a strong opening weekend or a front-loaded spike. If the film retains a meaningful portion of Sunday’s ₹14 crore on a working day, it supports the thesis that the core audience is beyond urban first-weekend moviegoers. That also matters for satellite and streaming licensing conversations, where a sustained heartland theatrical run strengthens a title’s downstream value.
