Jason Sanjay’s debut film Sigma closed its first week with Rs 8.27 crore in India net collections, according to Sacnilk data reported by The Times of India. On day seven, Thursday October 8, the film added Rs 66 lakh across 1,249 shows, a 7% dip from Wednesday’s Rs 71 lakh.
The domestic gross stands at Rs 9.39 crore. With the film still in its opening run, the first-week India net total is also the overall domestic net collection so far.
The language split is the real signal
On day seven, the Telugu version did the heavier lifting. It collected Rs 40 lakh from 701 shows, while the Tamil version contributed Rs 26 lakh from 548 shows. That is an early sign that a Tamil-led debut is not automatically carrying its home market.
Occupancy data tells the same story of a title competing for weekday attention. The Tamil 2D version recorded 14.54% overall occupancy on day seven; the Telugu 2D version was at 14.47%. Evening Tamil shows were especially soft at 5.17%, while the Telugu version’s evening occupancy was 10.10%. Show count also fell from 1,377 on Wednesday to 1,249 on Thursday.
First-week curve
The film opened at Rs 2.35 crore on Friday, October 2, then collected Rs 1.50 crore on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekdays slid steadily to Rs 66 lakh by Thursday. That is a familiar pattern, but the speed of the fall is what exhibitors and distributors will be watching.
- Daily trend: Rs 2.35 cr, Rs 1.50 cr, Rs 1.50 cr, declining weekdays, Rs 66 lakh on day seven.
- Footfalls: 78,791 on day seven; cumulative 847,113 after week one.
- Format split: Tamil 548 shows and Rs 26 lakh; Telugu 701 shows and Rs 40 lakh.
Why Mandaadi’s 100 crore matters
In the same report, Soori’s Mandaadi crossed Rs 100 crore, reaching Rs 100.58 crore in overall net collections. It is a useful benchmark for hold: Rs 57.30 crore in week one, Rs 26 crore in week two, Rs 12.27 crore in week three, and Rs 5.01 crore in week four.
The contrast is instructive. Sigma’s first week is opening-weekend heavy at Rs 8.27 crore; Mandaadi’s total was built by weekly retention. For media planners and distribution teams, a 100-crore total with a smaller fourth week is less noisy than an opening spike that fades.
