Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Telugu period drama Ranabaali crossed Rs 50 crore in India net collections on its ninth day, helped by a second-Saturday recovery. The film’s worldwide gross now stands at Rs 70.10 crore, but the underlying numbers are more useful than the milestone itself.
Released on October 16, Ranabaali reunites Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. It is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers and presented by T-Series. Set during the British colonial period, it draws from the struggles of people in Rayalaseema.
The Saturday uptick
According to Sacnilk, Ranabaali collected Rs 2.80 crore net in India on Saturday, October 24, across 1,569 shows. That is a 33.3% jump over Friday’s Rs 2.10 crore. The cumulative domestic net total has reached Rs 50.10 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 58.25 crore.
- Domestic net: Rs 50.10 crore after nine days
- Second Saturday: Rs 2.80 crore net, up 33.3% over Friday’s Rs 2.10 crore
- Overseas: Rs 11.85 crore gross, including Rs 40 lakh on Saturday
- Worldwide gross: Rs 70.10 crore
Why the recovery is modest
The day-on-day gain signals that the film found some audience after a soft first week. For media planners and entertainment marketers, the useful read is that a 33.3% bump is a stabiliser, not a breakout. It played across 1,569 shows on Saturday, a useful context marker for hold rather than expansion.
The review is a caution signal
News18 Showsha gave the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, writing that its “ambitions are more impressive than its execution.” The review flagged graphic violence and uneven political nuance. Mixed critical reception often matters for longer runs because it caps the word-of-mouth needed after the opening weekend.
What to do with this
Do not treat the Rs 50 crore cumulative as proof of long legs. Track Saturday-to-Friday holds and show-count changes across the second week, and watch whether weekday retention holds after the second weekend. The overseas gross of Rs 11.85 crore also matters: it is a small share of a Rs 70.10-crore worldwide total, so the domestic run is doing most of the work.
