Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has banked USD 771,000 in overseas advance sales across three tracked markets, according to figures tracked by Films Discourse. North America leads at USD 558,000, around 72% of the overseas pre-sale total. The UK has added USD 141,000 and Australia roughly USD 72,000.
The number matters because it arrives more than two weeks before the reported November 5 opening, and before India’s own advance window has opened. Overseas sales are currently the only visible demand signal.
North America is doing the heavy lifting
US premiere screenings on November 4 have sold about 10,800 tickets for roughly USD 210,000. Including Canada, North American premiere pre-sales have crossed USD 250,000. The average US premiere ticket price is close to USD 19.50.
That ticket price is the more useful early number. It suggests buyers are reaching for premium formats such as IMAX and 3D. The source caveat is important: the total alone does not prove what share came from those screens.
- North America: USD 558,000, about 72% of overseas advance.
- US premiere: roughly 10,800 tickets, average price near USD 19.50.
- Opening day pre-sales: USD 162,000, with the US at USD 71,000 and the UK close at USD 64,000.
The opening-day split between the US and UK is notably tighter than the premiere; regular Thursday shows are more balanced.
The IMAX race with Godzilla
Premium screens are where the overseas battle gets sharper. Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla: Minus Zero opens in the US on November 6, one day after Ramayana’s reported opening. The previous film, Godzilla Minus One, grossed about USD 57 million in North America, the highest for a Japanese-language live-action film in the region.
Both films are expected to take IMAX screens. If exhibitors must choose, Ramayana’s premium-format run could be squeezed just as word of mouth is forming.
India is the real test
India advance bookings open on October 20, on Dussehra. Trade chatter suggests the film could cross Rs 100 crore on opening day in India, which would place it in a small group of films to clear that mark on day one. That is rumour, not booked revenue.
For now, the clean target is USD 1 million in overseas advance before release. With USD 771,000 already on the board, the milestone may arrive before India’s booking window even opens.
