Worldwide gross reaches Rs 25.26 cr

Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story lifted on its second Saturday, but the recovery is narrower than the day-on-day bounce suggests. The courtroom drama earned Rs 1.15 crore India net on October 24, a 91.7% jump over Friday’s Rs 60 lakh, according to Sacnilk data carried by The Times of India.

Nine days in, the film has stacked up Rs 18.90 crore India net. Domestic gross stands at Rs 22.51 crore, overseas at Rs 2.75 crore, and worldwide gross at Rs 25.26 crore.

Second Saturday bounce, fewer shows

The issue is the base. Prahaar played 892 shows on Day 9, compared with 3,908 shows on its first Saturday, when it collected Rs 3.15 crore net. The second Saturday is therefore still 63.5% below the first Saturday, even after the day-on-day recovery. Average collection per show was Rs 12,892.

  • Day 9 India net: Rs 1.15 crore across 892 shows, up 91.7% from Day 8
  • Running India net: Rs 18.90 crore; domestic gross Rs 22.51 crore
  • Worldwide gross: Rs 25.26 crore, with Rs 2.75 crore from overseas
  • Hindi 2D occupancy: 30.08%, led by 40.38% in night shows
  • Footfalls: 48,874 on Day 9; 855,480 cumulative

What the weekend split tells us

The film’s first week was front-loaded but held better on Sunday and Tuesday than the Monday dip suggested: Sunday was Rs 3.65 crore, Tuesday Rs 3.30 crore. The slide began mid-week, with Thursday at Rs 1.20 crore and the second Friday collapsing to Rs 60 lakh. Saturday’s improvement came mostly from late sessions: evening occupancy was 32.77% and night shows hit 40.38%, against 10.62% in the morning.

For distribution and marketing teams, that shape matters. Late-show recovery points to adult and metro audiences; the low morning number means family or casual walk-ins are not carrying the film. A screen count of 892 curbs the upside no matter how much occupancy improves.

How to read the number

Media planners should benchmark the second Saturday against the first Saturday, not against the second Friday. The 91.7% jump attracts attention, but the same-day-a-week-ago comparison is down 63.5%, and the film is running on a fraction of its original screens. That is a second-weekend hold problem, not a breakout.

The next checkpoint is whether Sunday can hold above Saturday’s Rs 1.15 crore and whether exhibitors restore shows in the coming week. Until then, the worldwide total of Rs 25.26 crore is modest, with overseas contributing a thin Rs 2.75 crore.
