Netflix has turned a working title and a rumour into a committed release date. The streamer confirmed that Tantara, its post-Korean War music business drama, will premiere on 11 December 2026.
The series has been listed under earlier titles such as Show Business and Slowly and Intensely. The confirmation matters less for the name than for the calendar: media buyers and entertainment marketers now have a fixed anchor in the most crowded quarter of the release year.
A stacked cast and a tested production line
The series pairs Song Hye Kyo, who returned to Netflix as the lead of The Glory, with Gong Yoo, recognisable to global subscribers from Squid Game and Goblin. Lee Ha Nee, Kim Seol Hyun and Cha Seung Won are also confirmed among the leads.
Director Lee Yoon Jung and writer Noh Hee Kyung are attached, with Studio Dragon and GTist producing. The synopsis centres on Min-ja, who enters the music business after a hard childhood, and Dong-gu, the friend who fights to protect her dreams. Min-hui is the first artist they sign, and Seok Gil-yeo is the hitmaker who can turn rookies into stars.
- Premiere: 11 December 2026, as confirmed by Netflix.
- Leads: Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo, joined by Lee Ha Nee, Kim Seol Hyun and Cha Seung Won.
- Producers: Studio Dragon and GTist, behind a period music-business story.
The date lock is the real signal
For streaming teams, a fixed date is a planning input. Q4 is the most contested stretch of the release calendar, and Korean dramas have become dependable global retention plays. A confirmed 11 December slot lets media teams align trailer drops, paid campaigns and partnership activations against a known premiere instead of a loose quarter.
Delivery risk also looks contained. Filming began in December 2024, and wrap-party reports surfaced in January 2026. Netflix is dating a project that appears past its most uncertain production phase.
The question now is positioning. Tantara has the raw material for an event-sized launch; the next dataset to watch is whether Netflix puts event-sized marketing behind it.
