Netflix Korea marked a decade in Seoul with a fan festival and a six-title slate peek that left planners with two firm dates and a lot of audience-building runway. The event at Oil Tank Culture Park put star names on stage, but for anyone mapping 2027 budgets the real signal was what wasn’t there: no release dates for the 2027 projects, and no first teasers for two of the biggest bets.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos framed the market as more than a source of hits. “For Netflix, Korea is more than a market; it is where we discovered new possibilities,” he said. That framing fits the slate: pre-sold IP, returning franchises and festival-recognised film.
The slate at a glance
Six projects took the stage:
- Possible Love – Lee Chang-dong’s drama with Sol Kyung-gu, Jeon Do-yeon, Jo Yeo-jeong and Jo In-sung; in select theatres since September 23, arriving on Netflix on November 6.
- Tantara (Slowly and Intensely) – Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo and Kim Seol-hyun star; confirmed for December 11.
- Grand Galaxy Hotel – the Hotel Del Luna team’s fantasy series with Lee Do-hyun and Shin Si-a, slated for next year.
- Beauty in the Beast – Kim Min-ju, Lomon and Moon Sang-min; final Korean title translates as “Wolf Girl,” expected in 2027.
- All of Us Are Dead season 2 – Yoon Chan-young confirmed Cheong-san is alive; bigger zombie battle in Seoul, billed as coming soon, expected early 2027.
- Solo Leveling – live-action with Byeon Woo-seok first appearing as Sung Jin-woo; shoot ongoing, likely late 2027 at the earliest.
The numbers that matter
Netflix anchored Solo Leveling’s scale with one figure: the webtoon and web novel have drawn 14.3 billion views worldwide. Combined with the anime’s 2025 Crunchyroll sweep, that’s a built-in fan base that lowers launch risk but also raises the bar for localisation and casting decisions.
The date problem is the planning problem. Only two windows are firm: November 6 for Possible Love and December 11 for Tantara. Everything else—Grand Galaxy Hotel, Beauty in the Beast, All of Us Are Dead season 2 and Solo Leveling—falls into 2027 without a concrete date. Media planners should treat those as programming signals, not launch commitments.
What to do about it
For partners and brands, the near-term anchor is the two dated titles. For 2027 projects, the work is audience development: track actor reveals, fan events and first-look moments. The Cheong-san reveal shows that a character beat can carry a slate announcement even when footage is absent.
Netflix’s Korean pipeline remains deep, but the showcase was a reminder that “coming soon” and “next year” are not the same as “bookable.”
