A new app-store listing has done what Netflix has not yet done publicly: confirm that Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise is coming to Netflix Games on iOS and Android. The page is live in the Philippines and Malaysia, which points to a soft launch before a wider rollout. No release date is attached yet.
The number behind the title
Monster Hunter Rise launched on Nintendo Switch in March 2021 and later expanded to PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It has sold more than 15 million copies, making it one of the strongest performers in Capcom’s franchise. For Netflix, this is a full AAA action RPG, not the casual mobile tie-ins that dominate much of its recent mobile output.
What the mobile version changes
The app-store description details a few mobile-specific updates:
- Event and Challenge Quests that were previously paid or time-limited can now be unlocked through progression.
- A new Recovery Button automatically picks the most effective item based on the hunter’s health and status.
- Touch controls have been rebuilt for every weapon, with visuals that scale across screen sizes and ratios.
Players can hunt solo or team up with up to three other players online. One notable gap: the Sunbreak expansion is not mentioned, so it looks unlikely to be included at launch.
Why a single port matters
Netflix’s mobile games output has slowed dramatically this year. The company has added only a couple of new mobile titles in 2026 while shifting focus toward TV and party games. Last week, Ted Sarandos told Bloomberg’s ScreenTime that mobile gaming was “a gateway to cloud gaming.”
Landing a premium Capcom title shows the strategy is about bigger names, not volume. It follows Netflix’s Rockstar arrangement, which brought the Grand Theft Auto trilogy and Red Dead Redemption to subscribers. Netflix and Monster Hunter have crossed paths before: the animated film Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild arrived on the service in 2021.
The listing arrives at a useful moment for Netflix’s games narrative. The mobile catalogue’s pace has been questioned, and a 15-million-selling portable port gives the proposition a concrete flagship while the company continues to talk up cloud gaming. As with all Netflix Games, Monster Hunter Rise will be included with a Netflix subscription, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
