Marshals Season 2: 18 Episodes, 8 Dated Sundays

CBS has made half of Marshals Season 2 easy to plan and left the other half deliberately open. The 18-episode season has eight weekly dates locked from October through November; episodes nine through eighteen are expected in 2027, with no dates yet.

For media planners and streaming teams, that is not a single fall campaign. It is a firm front block followed by a retention problem.

The premiere and platform rhythm

Marshals returns Sunday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on CBS. New episodes stream on Paramount+ the next day.

The show follows the Yellowstone spinoff pattern: weekly linear premieres instead of a binge drop. Same-night CBS viewers and next-day Paramount+ catch-up viewers are two different reach curves, and they should be measured separately rather than lumped into one number.

The dates you can book now

  • Episode 1 – Oct. 4
  • Episode 2 – Oct. 11
  • Episode 3 – Oct. 18
  • Episode 4 – Oct. 25
  • Episode 5 – Nov. 1
  • Episode 6 – Nov. 8
  • Episode 7 – Nov. 15
  • Episode 8 – Nov. 22

The first half closes on Nov. 22. Episodes 9 through 18 are not yet dated, and the source indicates they will arrive in 2027. That gap makes the back half a re-promotion challenge more than a ratings story.

The split itself is worth a planning note. With the first half ending in late November and the next block not expected until 2027, Marshals will have to re-establish itself twice: once at premiere and again when episode nine lands. That can affect everything from upfront commitments to performance marketing budgets for Paramount+.

Why the tune-in hook matters

Season 2 resumes the Season 1 cliffhanger: Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, leaves the marshal service to pursue his kidnapped son Tate while a criminal organization expands across Montana. The new season also brings back Jefferson White, who played Jimmy in the original Yellowstone, giving CBS a recognizable face for promos and a reason for lapsed Yellowstone viewers to sample the spinoff.

There is no binge option to fall back on, so appointment viewing remains the core behavior. For advertisers, Sunday broadcast units are the primary inventory, while next-day streaming offers incremental reach, particularly among viewers who have cut linear but subscribe to Paramount+.

What to do with the schedule

Buyers can place episodic buys against the first eight Sundays with confidence. Streaming teams should watch next-day Paramount+ lift to see how much of the Sunday audience converts into midweek viewing. And for the 2027 back half, the work is retention: a long midseason break means re-promotion needs to be treated as a campaign, not an afterthought.
