Jailer 2 day 5: ₹239.85 crore India net

Jailer 2’s first Monday separated the opening-weekend spike from the film’s actual staying power. The verdict from trade data: a drop, but a controlled one. Sacnilk estimates the Rajinikanth sequel added ₹39.95 crore net in India on day five, pushing the domestic cume to ₹239.85 crore.

The day-wise build

The Monday number was nearly 29% lower than Sunday’s ₹55.85 crore. That is a standard post-weekend correction, not a collapse, especially with the Navaratri-Dasara holiday period still working in the film’s favour. Occupancy came in at 48.8% across 14,976 shows.

  • Opening day (Oct 15): ₹59.70 crore
  • Friday: ₹37.10 crore
  • Saturday: ₹47.25 crore
  • Sunday: ₹55.85 crore
  • Monday: ₹39.95 crore

Sacnilk’s numbers put the extended opening-weekend total at around ₹199 crore before Monday, and the five-day India total at ₹239.85 crore.

The Tamil skew is the real story

For media planners and distributors, the national total hides a sharper business insight: Tamil shows are carrying the film. Of Monday’s ₹39.95 crore, ₹30.50 crore came from the Tamil version, which has now collected ₹174.20 crore. That is roughly 73% of the five-day total, while Hindi and Telugu versions are contributing far less.

A sub-30% Monday slide after a big Sunday is generally read as a sign of audience expansion beyond the opening fan base. In-cinema advertisers buying by language should allocate disproportionately towards Tamil screens while the run is hot.

Next checkpoint: second-weekend hold

Jailer 2 is already the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026, and it has the advantage of no direct competitor at the Tamil box office. The next few days will show whether weekday drops remain under control and how strongly the film bounces on its second weekend. For screen operators, Monday’s 48.8% occupancy across 14,976 shows is a useful benchmark for weekday programming decisions.

Nelson Dilipkumar, the film’s director, thanked audiences on social media after the opening response. The franchise pull—old and new cameos, a returning star and a clear genre promise—has turned a sequel into a regional event. The coming week will show whether it becomes a long-running one.
