Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 added ₹6.96 crore net in India on its 13th day, according to soft trade estimates from Sacnilk, bringing its domestic total to ₹415.11 crore. Tuesday came in below Monday’s ₹9.45 crore, a sign that the post-Dussehra weekdays are now following the usual cooling curve after the film’s strong second weekend.
The record the film is building
Even as daily numbers ease, the sequel is no longer chasing ordinary milestones. It has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, overtaking Rajinikanth’s own 2.0, and is the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026. Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge remains the only Indian release ahead of it this year.
From festive surge to weekday reality
The daily split shows how festival periods inflate collections. During the Dussehra season, the film was collecting between ₹46 crore and ₹59 crore a day, and it closed its first week at ₹334.35 crore. The first significant fall came on Monday, and Tuesday’s number confirms the film is entering a more ordinary weekday groove.
- Day 13 Tuesday: ₹6.96 crore net
- 13-day India total: ₹415.11 crore
- First week: ₹334.35 crore
- All-time mark: highest-grossing Tamil film ever
Why the next ten days matter
For distribution and marketing teams, the question is no longer whether the film is a hit; it is how long it can hold screens before the calendar gets crowded. There is no direct Tamil release in the immediate window, so Jailer 2 has a short runway of its own. That changes in early November: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is scheduled for November 5, and Jithu Madhavan’s Scene follows on November 6. Scene arrives with heat because its lead, Suriya, is coming off two earlier 2026 successes, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons.
The key test is whether Monday’s dip becomes the start of a steeper slide or just a settling down. If the film can hold something close to its current weekday level before the November 5-6 releases, it will likely stretch its already-record Tamil run further. If the drop accelerates, the run will look front-loaded.
The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel, backed by Sun Pictures, released on October 15. It continues the story of retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Alongside returning actors such as Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, the cast includes new additions like SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan.
