Vishal Chaturvedi’s devotional drama Hanuman Ansh is now a long-tail case study for Indian theatrical business. On day 71, the film added Rs 15 lakh in India net collections, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 448.61 cr, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.
The daily number looks small. The context is what matters.
The day-71 math
The Rs 15 lakh Friday came from 352 shows across two language versions. Hindi contributed Rs 14 lakh from 325 shows; Telugu added Rs 1 lakh from 27 shows on its eighth day. That is a 76.9% drop from Rs 65 lakh net on Thursday – but at this stage of a theatrical run, a Friday-to-Thursday fall is less important than the hold over the week.
Cumulative India net stands at Rs 339.13 cr. Domestic gross is Rs 400.21 cr, and overseas gross has reached Rs 48.40 cr, bringing the worldwide total to Rs 448.61 cr.
What the weekly curve shows
The run did not start with a big opening. It built later:
- Week 1: Rs 1.08 cr
- Week 2: Rs 40 lakh
- Week 3: Rs 10.40 cr
- Week 4: Rs 61 cr
- Week 5: Rs 90.25 cr (highest reported week)
- Week 10: Rs 11 cr
Week five’s Rs 90.25 cr alone out-earned the first four weeks combined, which total Rs 72.88 cr. That shape – a slow start, then a huge middle, then a steady tail – matters more than any single day’s decline.
Why it matters for planners
For exhibitors and media planners, Hanuman Ansh is a reminder that devotional content can behave differently from a front-loaded action film. It still ran 352 shows and drew 8,016 footfalls on day 71. Overall occupancy was modest – 12% for Hindi and 14% for Telugu – but the Hindi 2D format peaked at 23.50% in night shows.
The two-language release also shows how regional add-ons extend reach: Telugu is barely eight days old while Hindi is in its 11th week. The film is planned as the first part of a trilogy, so this tail is doing more than adding revenue – it is keeping the franchise visible before the next instalment.
The practical takeaway is to judge a run on week-on-week holds, night-show occupancy and language splits, not one Friday. Hanuman Ansh released on August 7, 2026, and is inspired by Divine Detour: That Changed My Life, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba. Figures are industry estimates and may be revised when studio data is updated.
